Hey guys, I'm about to do my first fuel pump install on my 2g awd (all stock connections) and I read all the install guides as well as the youtube videos and everything on that one problematic flare connection and I just need some assurance on one thing.

I read that both 14mm and 19mm flare connections on the Bottom part turn , whereas (obviously) only the 19mm connection turns on the top. My question is the fuel line will twist REGARDLESS of whether I try to take off the 19mm from the top or the bottom, correct? Just like an o2 sensor, the line will twist regardless of whether I attack it from the upper or lower part , correct? Or is there something special about the bottom connection that the line will not twist?

I hope I was clear with my question. Thanks for the help.

^^ what he said. Doing it from the top will result in the metal line breaking off or the rubber line breaking from twisting too much. I literally just changed my fuel pump and trying to loosen just the top was just not working out.

Thanks a lot guys for your responses, appreciate your advice. What I am getting at is the line breaking from twisting like usmc said. Does the line twist the same way if you try to undo the bottom first? That's my question.

In the picture you will see the connection under the car to hard fuel line. That male fitting on the hard line will spin freely unlike the one off the sending unit.

Disconnect here first so that the rubber hose dangles. Then disconnect from sender.

Don't try twisting the rubber hose, it could fail on you down the road (I know from experience)

Thank you thank you thank you! Exactly what I needed to know , so the 19mm male on bottom IS different than the one on top in that it spins freely while the one on top is firmly attached to the hose .

Thank you so much guys , you are all awesome!
