I don't mind the engine noise, etc of a tuner car but do any of you have tips for reducing the sqeeks and other such noises? One that ive been able to track down is a loose section of plastic on the door. Is there any commonly found sources of these annoying noises and ways to make them silent? Can only turn the radio up sp far you know

u'll have to be more specific to what you're hearing. i dont have too many noises that im aware of. Does it sound like suspension squeeks? license plate rattling? vibrating plastic? where?

Some suspension squeaks that Im hoping will be remidied during this winters body shop rehab, and probably a heat shield from where I think I hear that noise.

But Im thnking more along the line of squeaks from the dash ( goes away when I press on the passenger side airbag ) and the interior door panel. Has anyone had any good fixes for reducing those types of noises. Its a rattlebox.

The door panels often go squeaky. You can use graphite on the inside of the door panel or even spray foam to add rigidity, thus reduce the squeaks. Search for it on the forums and you'll find what I'm talking about. I used graphite a few months ago and it helped quite a bit. Messy application though.

Will definately check it out. Many thanks

I have always had this problem with any of my leather/ vinyl door panels. There is no easy solution. The problem is the fact that there's a ton of little screws and clips that break over time and cause all kinds of friction. I've seen people spray great stuff crack sealer on the back of door panels, but I barely noticed a difference when i tried it. I was considering disassembling all the pieces of the door panels and regluing them back together.
As far as the airbag, take it out and reglue if necessary. Use stick on foam weatherstrip in any cracks and crevices where plastic meets plastic. Check for loose panel clips behind hatch plastic, interior panels, a pillars, etc. Which may cause rattling.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. Foam weatherstrip is a good idea. Ive got a noise from the sunroof this might work on too.

weather stripping and or felt liner with foam tape backing works on plastic meeting points, as well as door panel edge points around the perimeter.

past that, dynamat or sound deadener cut into strips works but is more expensive.

Do you think that a dynamat insulated floor over the spare, trunk area would help with the exhaust noise? Totally different from the chirps and squeek noises from loose plastic pieces but your comment got me wondering.

definitely. if you cover the entire area, yes. if you spot treat in the proper areas, it will reduce outside and exh noise significantly.

if you look at my build thread, i put dynamat over the entire interior of my car, and total weight added was about 140 lbs. took 4 trunk kits and some scraps. i expect a significant reduction in noise, based on other vehicles ive done the same covering in.

That thing should be as quiet as a Tesla!
