I was on ebay looking at LEGIT DSM parts when I came across a turbo. At first I thought it was legit and the price was way cheap so I clicked it to see what the deal was. As soon as I saw the adjustable wastegate actuator I knew what it was. For some reason something caught my eye and I read the description.

" FTG AND XS-POWER ARE PROUD TO BRING TO YOU
AS SEEN ON DSMTUNERS AND EVOLUTIONM
DSM TDO5-16G TURBO"

Really? Does either FTG or XSPower have permission to sell cheap knockoff shit while referencing a reputable board like Dsmtuners?
Seems like the owner / mods of this forum wouldn't want their name anywhere near that thing.

Definetly not I would say. What does ftg (never heard of) or xs power have to do with this site anyways? He's trying to get rep by using tuners that's so wrong. What a jerk and I like how there's not even a good pic of the turbo. Lol Good catch bro I'm sure Luda will be on this!

It should realistically read like this" [cheesy early 90's synth pop opening music plays] In association with con artist productions, As seen in the knockoff vs real evo 3 thread on dsmtuners come's... the turbo movie of the summer you wont want to miss, watch all the credible naysayers in the dsm camps try to stop him... even his girlfriend cant save him, and he has to face off against his worst enemy yet... watch as some dumb wannabe dsm'er blows away years of hard engine work, and priceless hours of tunning on...16g EVO 3 Turbocharger you won't wan'to miss it!!!" ROFLROFLROFL seriously luda should look this over.

I love this part.

Warranty on FTG Motorsports Products - PLEASE READ!

It is the intention of FTG Motorsports to sell only quality products. We offer a 2-year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials, not extending to normal wear and tear or mis-use. You must provide us with a proof of purchase, defect or the result of wear or mis-use. Some products have less than 1-year warranty, inquire before ordering.

FOR ALL TURBO RELATED WARRANTIES- WE REQUIRE NEW OIL LINES TO BE INSTALLED. WE REQUIRE PROPER PRIMING OF THE TURBO TO BE DOCUMENTED WITH VIDEO. THIS MEANS YOU MUST VERIFY OIL GOING INTO THE TURBO AFTER CRANKING ENGINE BUT BEFORE START UP. THIS IS VERIFIED BY CRACKING THE OIL FEED LINE TO ENSURE OIL IS BEING FED INTO THE TURBO. THIS MUST BE DOCUMENTED WITH VIDEO OR PICTURES FOR WARRANTY. IN ADDITION TO THIS YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR ENGINE OIL AND REPLACE THE FILTER TO ENSURE THAT NO CONTAMINATION HAS OCCURED IN THE OIL. THIS IS SUBJECT BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALL WARRANTY RELATED ISSUES. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Wonder how many people they deny a warranty because "oh you didn't change your oil" or "you didn't take picture or video to prove the turbo got oil, sorry!"

ebay is definitely not the place to get aftermarket parts for these cars... I sure learned that one.
never had issues with other cars getting replacement oem parts, but I usually shop for brands like gates, reinz, moog, ect.

This thing is junk and yeah never heard of those guys, its the same junk Chinese turbo every ebay store sells.

If you want a real evo 3 get a rebuilt one from Justin for $450 because thats how much they cost.

That warranty LOL, yeah basically saying there isn't really a warranty.

The worst part is that even if you do all that they say. Who's going to pay for the engine that was just destroyed by that crap pile of a turbo LOL. Such a waste of time and energy to make a few bucks ripping people off. The world these days so sad! :(

Just an FYI... I PM'd Luda a link to this post, in case he hasn't been told or seen it.

I would hate some noob to say "hey as seen on tuners, it must be the right one"

DSMtuners definitely does not endorse those turbos. Those appear to be the fake knock-off turbos. I'd stay away from them. I've contacted the seller asking to have the reference to our site removed. If he doesn't comply, I'll report the ad.

^^ good for you bro! ;) um you better tell them to remove from every post they have bro, found another!! What a deuce bag! This guy probably goes around telling his friends he started turners LOL

I'm glad action is being taken because of my discovery. I think that being associated with knockoff parts would give the board and community a bad reputation. I mean anyone that has ever done a search on the board here about ebay turbos should have seen JusMXs thread about ebay turbo testing, and how it failed so miserably. It was the polar opposite of an endorsement, that's for sure.

"As seen on DSMTuners in the "help why is my car slower than stock with the Evo3 16G I bought on ebay?" thread and "Where is my oil going and whats all that smoke in the rear view mirror from?" thread.

I had this problem years back with ebay sellers using my car to sell their body kits. I wasn't mad at first, but when I asked for compensation I received no reply. Heck I was responsible and offered them the use of my pictures for half of the price of a new bumper and they flat out laughed in my face I sent each and every one of them a Cease and Desist letter. They didn't like that one bit and continued with their practice. Until my family lawyer contacted them directly talking about a law suit pictures came down real fast.

The problem persists. I just ran across another ad worded exactly the same. I know eBay has a privacy policy, but its kinda bullshit that they don't tell you what action they took.

Yeah it was a pain in the ass for me as well., when I was dealing with this on Ebay and my car. My Family Lawyer actually had to send letters to Ebay threatening to take legal action against them as well for not enforcing their own policy. They were ass holes about it but I believe the took the ads down and removed the sellers account as far as I know. I know shortly after the ads came down and I haven't had a problem since. My worry is that once I get back into Racing and the business grows Ill be deal with more of this again. It really can be frustrating. I hope the best for the board and Luda and hope the situation is rectified as soon as possible.

I reported 4 and they were all taken down. FTG claims that 'As seen on.." Is not the same as an endorsement which we all know is a load of shit. He said that if he finds out we have posted about this on our forum that he will seek legal action. I don't think he has a leg to stand on though. It's obvious he does not have the communities endorsement, and more importantly he doesn't have Ludachris's permission to use the forum name. They aren't a supporting vendor, so why should they be allowed to capitalize on the forums good reputation by lulling unknowing buyers into trusting the obviously cheap Chinese knockoff Turbo?
Hopefully I didn't get myself or anyone into trouble, I just hate to see people get screwed by others dishonesty and I saw a way that I could help.

Lol he changed his dsmtuners bit to retain tuners on the ad but slander it a little. Instead of being at the bottom of the ad and in the fine print, its still front and centre....Hate to say it Luda but you might have to really fight with this chump.
Here's now what the Ad reads:
"due to recent accusations by someone at DSM tuners we have removed our statements about "as seen on dsm tuners"
We never stated that DSM tuners endorsed us or anything of the sort. We have removed this as per their request.

For search engine's sake, at least for the few who try and research the guy's eBay username (ftgmotorsports) on Google before they make a purchase, hopefully some will stumble upon this thread and see how the guy is trying use the DSMtuners name to help sell his products. When, in reality, this site's members usually steer people away from the crappy XS-Power turbos that are NOT factory OEM turbos, but are made to look like them.

So if you are considering buying from FTG Motorsports on eBay, consider yourself warned about this user:
http://www.ebay.com/usr/ftgmotorsports

They are using the DSMtuners site in their ads to gain credibility for their products. This site does not endorse those products. In many cases, we discourage people from buying cheap knock off products like the ones sold by that seller.
