What cam gears are you running? the Evo or the 7 bolt?

IIRC the cam alignment dowels are drilled in a different spot on the Evo VIII cams than a DSM

So you end up having to make your own timing marks for the cam gears.

But the Evo VIII cams are not a drop and go.

Also did you bleed down your HLAs? If not, you may have the valves cracked open a bit and that can cause a no start.

The pins in the end of the cam that locate the cam gears are not in the right spot for a dsm. If I recall you'll need adjustable gears, and degree them in to get them to work.

Not any cheaper than a set of aftermarket 264's or 272's after its all said and done.

When I place my 2g cams next to my evo8 cams they appear to have the same orientation

This has cost me 45 dilars for the cams and mill work. I'm not worried about money.

No one's going to help you if you just argue with any and all advice you are given, dude. You've already been told why it's not working. Since you refuse to take advice, why don't you instead do some searching.

Thank you for your input. If look at my old 2g cams and my other set of evo 8 cams I can mark my gears where they need to be.

Now your cas slot will be off too...

The believe that guys have been putting 1g CAS on their engines. You can move them if I remember correctly.

You need the evo gears or the dual pattern adjustable ones to set the timing. Evo exhaust cam on dsm intake side and vice versa.

You can either drill and tap for a 2gb cas or make an intersecting slot for the 1g. Since the 1g is adjustable the slot can be made "sloppy".

I did this research when i was looking into running the evo r2 cams in a 2.4 dsm application.

I got my timing all said up today. It turns over and everything now I just need to get the cam angle sensor figured out. The engine rotates freely but of course it once to ignite spark at the wrong time. Thank you everyone that gave me your input turn day we going project into 2 hour long project
