I would have to agree as well. Even if you want to keep them you can't let it look like a redneck island in your front yard. I do have two in my driveway but they look like they run. LOL I'm working on my garage so thats why they are in the driveway. Insulation is gonna be great in the winter. :hellyeah: My neighbor is doing the same thing with his garage and his fox body project is sitting as well. Same deal looks like it runs. Being in the country no one would ever say anything anyways even if I had them on blocks and parts removed. Your area people complain so maybe hide them? A fence? Move to back yard or side?

Read the local ordinance and state statutes to see what the rules are before you do anything. There may be a loophole or a simple action such as current vehicle registration to bring you into compliance. I wouldn't trust an inspector to tell you what the law is in any case, read for yourself.

Edit: Also read the law to understand your appeal rights. Make sure you are acting timely according to the rules. I'm unclear on how an inspector deemed them "unrepairable" as the burden of proof is on them...did you grant them access to your vehicles? Good luck and you may have a chance in prevailing if they did not follow the process.

I must second this advice! Find out what law you actually violating! Most towns allow one unregistered vehicle on your property.

But you didn't make it clear, is this on your property or on the street?

Wow thats total bullshit if theyre on your property. It took me 2 years to get my dsm up and going, i had 2 dsms and my supra unregistered and on town property......they waited 5 months to post notices on the cars. Then i got my ass moving parted out the wrecked one and got rid of it, moved the supra into my drive way and pushed the talon up against my back garage half on my property half not......didnt have a single problem after that. I also live live right on the edge of town so that could be why.
That's bull crap if you cant be fixing a car up on your own property, I'd be raising hell.....still wouldnt change it more then likely.

IDK, maybe I'm just not as stuck up as some of you...but I will never give a single damn who keeps project cars in their yard or on their property. As long as they aren't blocking the street, or constantly revving that shit at 3am, or blaring loud tunes...doesn't harm me. I tend to not worry about what my neighbors are doing. That's just me though. I still don't see what harm it is, even if they look like crap and are rusting. Bored middle class people problems for some of you I guess. :p

Cracked is right, I would get it if they were on jack stands and pulled to pieces or a hazard, but if it's not a danger then why hassle the guy.
I live in the city with no hoa, when my gsx got totaled it sat on the street for 4-6 weeks looking like crap and I never got hassled, after my back felt a little better, I got it off the street. I kept waiting for a police sticker but never happened. Considering I needed parts off of it for my talon, it would have costed me a lot to get rid of it and buy parts individually.
I would definitely read the city ordinance's and hoa, rules. (Which ever is hassling you)
Many people have project cars and are on a budget, that shouldn't stop you from doing what you like. Wish you luck man.

Cracked, Saw the3 I got hassled about, I just did what needed to be done, now the county is happy. But they were parked on the county right of way.
I really had 4 to deal with. So I scrapped the wrecked ranger, Moved the Silver bird to the house in the backyard, sold the Mustang, and moved the red bird up on the slab.

Just have to put up a 25 foot long fence and it all will be okie dokie.

Fla has some messed up laws, If you make too much of a fuss, they will keep coming back and hit you for other things.

Aldo, your neighbors may have called code enforcement and complained about your "eye sores" hence why they are on you about them.

A few points:
1. Don't like "un-American" associations? Don't reside in a place that has one. They're about as "un-American" as a private club, except the charter and covenants exist with the Deeds office.
2. Don't like city ordinances? Don't live in the city.
3. Know your limits. Keeping 2 junkers because they created some emotional attachment comes with a price tag. IF you simply have to keep the cars, deal with the fallout. Your love for the scrap heaps won't sway the :insertgoverningbody:

I could always park a junker or two in the garage, but that's just another middle class problem. :)

Not the same in any way. Private clubs dont govern what you can do on your property. That you own. People need to mind their own business.

Telling others they cant grill in their backyard because the smell of meat offends them should be an instant deportation ticket out of here.

Cant wash your car in your own driveway, number of vehicles parked in the driveway, cant drink a beer while sitting inside your garage with the door open, grass a certain length. Etc etc etc.

How about this, dont like what people are doing in the neighborhood? Then move. Same logic.

Or just get a life...

HOA have a place, and some logic to the rules.

They want your grass at a certain length so it dose not get 4 foot tall and look like ass

They do not want the clunker cars in the driveway to be an eyesore and look ghetto.

What the neighbors do and look can effect your property values.

So Some of the rules I understand... others they are just being nazi about

Do you want to hold a nice cocktail party in you 250K home, and the ghetto wanna bes across the street with front clips scattered in the front yard left there for months?

Actually they are very much the same, minus the property owner. You abide by a set of rules. That club property owner? He's got a set, too.

How about this, dont like what people are doing in the neighborhood? Then move. Same logic.

That isn't how it works, though. You moved in knowing the covenants.
Bye-bye junker cars!

<snip?
All on point.

Yard art. You're an inspiringing artist and are exploring. Park them in your yard, cover them with flowers and dirt, and claim art. Giant flower pot. People do it here in my area all the time.

Seen on the news this dude had a couple of cars he was gonna fix in his driveway. City came along and said they've been there too long and they need to go. He yanked them into yard and put flowers all over them and claim he an artist. He got away with it.
THIS. This could be the loophole you need. I'd go with this honestly as long as you can make it look halfway decent so people dont get too angry.Maybe cover it in brown tarp to protect everything then dirt and nice array of plants and flowers and claim it as yard art. $200 in materials could be real nice..

I just hate the liberal mentality that people feel they are entitled to infringing on someones else's rights for their own convenience.

Would someone that could afford to live in a nice community do any of those things? Doubtful.

Besides there are city laws that take care of most if not all of that. HOA's are nothing more then some spoiled bored house wifes with no life's that have a hole right down to their soul that they can not fill with anything other than the enjoyment they get by ruining someones's day/life.

No non government agency should have that much power over other peoples property. Its insane that that kind of thing is allowed in this country.

Can't you just register them and call it good? Even if they don't run?
Since everyone else is giving their opinion here's mine; it shouldn't matter one bit if your neighbor likes it or not. If it doesn't infringe on their rights then it shouldn't be made a law. And an eyesore that's not even on your property certainly does not infringe on your rights. With that said, it is the law so you need to do something. Someone did mention trying to make a deal with the woman. Maybe ask her if you can post one for sale and get an extension.
Good luck.

With that said, it is the law so you need to do something.
Extremely relevant. Save for political rhetoric and "Don't tread on me, bro" flag waving *cough*, there is one thing that is wholly relevant; the law.
It's just a DSM. There'll be 20 for sale in the classifieds AFTER you work out the situation.

Two cars and can't afford to get either of them going, people have some strange priorities.

I wonder how hoopty the cars would be after they got back together/if at all. Doing just one of these cars the right way costs more than enough.

That's what i'm saying.... cars can ruin your life if you let them. It has the affect on your wallet and psyche as being addicted to :insert whatever drug you want:. Step away from cars and you'll be golden, I promise. You can always come back later.
