Hey guys I've read a ton of threads regarding high oil pressure. Recently installed a built 6 bolt w/o balance shafts.

I understand there's a good chance of high oil pressure when you remove the balance shafts and I need to port the OFH relieve valve which is on my list to do. There is currently an oil leak at what appears to be the front main seal which I was thinking was due to high oil pressure with the new motor.

I installed an AEM oil pressure gauge and warm up idle oil pressure is around 15psi which seems about right from what I've read. I've heard the oil pressure should increase about 10psi per 1k rpms. What I'm unsure about is should oil pressure raise 10psi per rpms if you're at WOT? Part throttle? Does it matter?

I'm currently sitting at 70psi at 3k rpms (seems high) while cruising but when I lightly accelerate (part throttle) up to about 5k rpms it only seems to rise to around 85psi. I haven't really gone full throttle at this point due to lack of fuel so I'm not sure what it would end up at unfortunately.

I guess my big question is does this seem abnormally high? Would this cause the front main seal to leak after a couple thousands miles or is there a chance the seal is the issue not the oil pressure? Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated!

You need to port that ofh when removing the balance shafts. You can hurt your turbo also depending on which you have so be carful. You answered your own question bro port it. And either the seal is installed wrong or yes the high oil pressure is making it seep.

Planning on porting the ofh this week. Does my oil pressure reading seem really high though? It's at 70psi at 3k rpms and 85psi at 5k. I'm going to turn the boost all the way down and see if I can get a reading of oil pressure at 7k later today so I can see what the max pressure is.

No, from what you posted, your oil pressure is about on par with most other builds with the BS removed.

What is your cold oil idle pressure.

Sorry for the late response guys!

@Dsmkauai Old school FP Green I had laying around.

@BogusSVO It's been about a month since the car really ran but if I remember correctly it was about 15psi while warmed up at idle which seems normal. Also I took off the OFH and noticed the relief valve had already been lightly ported, so I ported it a bit more.

My original fear was that the car had extremely high oil pressure because of a leak at the oil pan (which has been fixed) and my biggest current concern is a massive oil leak on the timing belt side. I was afraid the motor was blowing out gaskets/seals from high oil pressure (i.e. front main seal) but I just took off the timing covers and discovered it's leaking from around the tensioner pulley which is a whole other problem. Now I'm trying to track down this oil leak and I can't seem to figure it out. I'm going to post another newbie post with pictures and hope I can get some further input there.
