Hey whats krackin?

I was wondering if I can get some input on my issue. So I was driving on the freeway when I started hearing a weird kind of Drilling sound when the turbo boost spooled on acceleration, unknowing what it could be I turned around and headed home and it was then that I heard a Pop sound and immediately after that I saw a cloud of smoke behind me as i pulled in, Parked up to open hood and found the exhaust manifold was burning red hot, almost like it was gonna catch fire. FML!!! Next day I check under the hood and see nothing out of the ordinary, I was assuming I blew the head gasket but after checking antifreeze and oil for cross contamination I concluded that it wasn't the head gasket (I hope not), then i go check under the car to find excess oil dripping and leaking from the bottom of my turbo, I read all related posts to this situation and figured the smoking exhaust is due to the turbo having had blown. Car Idles good, but has not power during acceleration and continues to blow smoke while turned on. I have pics posted to help out describing what i'm talking about.

I love my GS-T, I'll do what it takes to keep it.

Any help from you DSM O.G's is Highly appreciated.
Thanks.

You would've been better-off with a good used T25.

Yours is junk, as in "unable to be rebuilt". Scrap. Doorstop. Paperweight. Boat anchor. The eBay turbo will soon follow except you will have spent a bunch of time and money fitting it to your car where another T25 would go right in the place of what you're removing.

If you are going to rebuild the t-25 look into rebuilding it into a t-28. Depending on what your goals are.
Horrible advice.

In the photos above you'll see his T25 has extensive wheel damage from rubbing the compressor cover as a result of the shaft flopping around like a fish out of water....this means the bearing housing is scrap also. Add to that the fact that you can't "rebuild" a turbo into something larger without the proper wheelset and lots of expensive machining. It costs $500+ to properly convert a DSM TB2566 (T25) into a a TB2578 (T28) once you factor the parts, balancing, and machining. For less than that you can find a Genuine MHI Evo III 16G and all the install parts necessary then enjoy a turbo that not only has more potential but is also more-reliable than a T2-based Garrett.

Advice for future generations of DSMers...if you hear a "pop" followed by no boost and a smoke trail, you just suffered the turbocharger-equivalent of a rod through the block. It cannot be rebuilt.

Yup. She gone! You should use it as a learning tool and take it apart and get familiar with how it works. Especially if you ordered a ebay one. Ebay is junk. Send it back and get you a good used 14b or a t25. You gotta crawl before you ball.

This is such awesome advice! And I def think it would be an awesome learning tool as well. also agreed with whats posted above, send the ebay turbo back and get you a legit turbo. Spend a little more now so you don't spend a lot more later.

14B would be a great investment. They are affordable, abundant and relatively easy to swap.

Good luck with the ebay turbo! The one we got had a cracked center housing and when I put coolant in it went dumping out the oil pan... Luckily I had the pan bolt out and no oil in...

Would suck to have that happen while driving!

I'd send the ecrap back and try to source a used one from a TRUSTED member, but even that got us screwed last time. Best to save and go with Justin.

I need to leave u a review too Jus, please do so for me after.
