That's the plan. :)

Now have to find a place to work on it over the winter!
Please, add details about the state of the oil pump and gears when you do the tear down. Much appreciated!

Very clean and tastefully done build. You have one of, if not the cleanest talon I've ever seen. Just wish there were more like you that shared the passion.

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. There's been a lot of time and money involved in this car.... it just makes me happy. Even broken. LOL! I'll always have this passion for these cars. My biggest fear is running out of parts, as they become rarer. I've already started to try to figure out a way to EVO swap the car just in case engines/transmissions become no longer available.

I feel ya there. I used to have a stock pile of parts and parts cars. I loved it, the county didn't quite appreciate it and said I was running a junkyard LOL. I had to get rid of just about everything. Kinda glad Miller import parts is only an hour and a half away. Might start collecting parts again in the new location LOL.

Tore down the spare engine that was sitting in the basement. 100% stock and never opened up 7-bolt. Had somewhere around 120,000 miles. Looks pretty good, so shouldn't need much machine work. We shall see.

Also made a pretty hefty payment on the motor build itself (Boostin Performance Stage 3). So it is happening, regardless, now! Sticking with the 2.0, but bumping the compression and doing a long rod.

So because I hate wiring, and don't have the patience for it... bought this engine harness from OHM Racing. So far happy with it. Won't really get to test it out for a while, as the car has not been torn into yet. I love the difference in both the weight savings and look of the new harness. So much cleaner. Every wire is labeled, too. Quite a nice touch!

Second photo shows he harness compared to a stock one. (Spare that I have) I probably should have laid them out in the same direction. Ah well, you get the idea. Could have had more deleted off the new harness, but I've kept quite a bit on this car, still.

I have been contemplating purchasing one of their harnesses for my 2g. I like that fact of brand new wiring and connectors to hopefully eliminate wiring issues down the road. I think I may buy it after the holidays. How long did it take to receive it?

That's what I was thinking. After fighting for 16 hours with a wiring problem on the car a few months ago, and only finding more issues... car needed a new harness regardless. To me, it was worth the pricetag to save on hours of stripping out unused circuits and fixing other issues. The turn around time was only a few weeks.

Impressive built, ran across this on the front page. The color of the car is beautiful, wondering where can we get a hatch like that for the shop car? overall color scheme is perfect! OMG

Why thank you! :) It'll look even better with that cleaned up harness in it! :) The hatch came from Carbonetics Carbon Fiber. You can find him on facebook.

build is getting very exciting! looking forward to the new motor
:) I am also looking forward to what the next chapter has in store for 'ol TrboBlu. Debating on selling the Green and going big.... since will now have a foundation that allows for that. We shall see.

You will never have to deal with toasted wiring ever again, plus enjoy working on it when the wires would never get on the way. Thanks for the info in the hatch, I didn't know they were still doing them.

Haven't updated this in a bit!

So, we got into hot rod drag week again! The plan is to build the car to withstand a week of drag racing and road miles. Since I also do not have a cage, it need to stay around 11.5 ET. I think that'll be possible on the green xl. :)

I also picked up a set of 12-lb 15x8 wheels that'll have a set of drag radials for drag week.

If all goes well, it'll be at the shootout.

I have a laundry list of things the car needs done, so hoping it doesn't fight me to much. :)

Any idea what caused the HG to blow?

Radiator cracked on the way home from Michigan. (5 hour drive). Didn't show any signs of trouble, so didn't realize it was run so low on coolant until I got home and saw the underside of the car coated in antifreeze. :(

Did a compression test, and it was fine. However #3 spark plug looked off. Installed a new radiator, drove it to Mitsubishi owners day and back. It seemed to run a tad hotter than usual, but never over headed. So... To end the season with a "bang"... We took it to the track. Blasted it down to a trap speed of 121mph in the 1/4. That's when it turned into a white smoke machine. Lol!

Parked it for the winter, and here we are!
