Didnt you have issues at that afr? I just upped mine to 15.1 and it feels weird not seeing 14s LOL

I only have issues at leaner than 17:1, though with the new cams, I don't think I can run as lean without misfiring. For me, I have always just ran it as lean as I could without misfires. The car is a little bit of a slouch this lean, but I mapped the car so that I am at 14.7:1 at the transition from vacuum to boost. The one thing I haven't done is adjust ignition timing to fully take advantage of the lean afrs, so I think there is a little more left.

For the record when I got 28mpg, it was in a full weight 2g weighed down with all of our stuff from shootout while running a/c. I attribute the decline in mpg to wider tires, new front mount, and new cams. The car runs on a megasquirt ecu, so I have full control over everything.

Hows this look? Im taking baby steps

I run 93 octane (for another reference) and I average 26mpg on my 92 GSX.. hard UICP,ported evoIII 16g, 190 rewired, 3" exhaust and FP manifold. My FWD 91 laser with an almost identical setup (14b instead of 16g) saw about 32mpg, I have a 60 mile round trip drive back and forth to work and 40 of it is thruway driving.. 75 on cruise control.

My best e85 mpg was on an older tune some years ago. I think my current tune may top it. But driving 122 miles to MOD doing final fine tuning on the driveabilty and doing some wot pulls. Was seeing 26-27mpg.

on my 3 different early Evos (similar to 2g dsm), and my Evo 7 I could never get above 16 MPG with strictly in-town driving. My average was 13-15 MPG on 93 pump. My setups ranged from stock to lots of mods and fully mapped.

Mine did 21-22 long ago on E85, heres the setup
91 AWD stock 5th gear
Stock N/T Engine
Stock n/t cams
China 16g at 20psi
CX racing $59 FMIC
450cc injectors
Stock ecu - No maft, afc, link, ect.
Super hacked 1g maf.
Walbro 255HP
AFPR at 60psi base fp,
JAW wideband with NB simulation fed into the ecu. Switch point set at 16:1

With this setup the car actaully ran great. The high fuel pressure along with the super rich factory fuel tables and E85 produced a WOT AFR of about 12.5:1, and it cruised and idled at about 16:1. I ended up going 13.07@107 like that. It should have gone faster as there was a little fuel left, but I didn't know much back then. Going to revisit this with my Galant GSX and a 14b.

With my current setup, holset, 1500cc injectors, maft, 2 x 255, ect. I get about 16-17 on the highway cruising at 15:1 and 80mph.

I tried the do super lean cruise and it didn't work out very well. On the cruise control it was always hunting for speed. It was like it wanted more throttle angle than the cruise control thought it needed, and it would back off and slowdown to much.
Whats your cruise rpm 3300?

22-24mpg on e85 with my 1g FWD. 2.3L stroker, 14b, FP3x cams, AWD 5th gear, my trips consist of mostly highway driving. This has been based over the last 3 years since I've switched to e85.

I made these calculations in 2011 to see if it was worth DD'ing my car on E85 or just running it at the track. Keep in mind, where I currently live E85 is $2.09ga and 91oct is $2.15ga so these calculations changed over the last 4yrs. If anything though, I recommend using a similar comparison to your current gas prices and do the math if you're curious to see how much more you're paying annually to drive with E85 in the tank.

This is also running a 14.7:1 stoich AFR mixture and mainly highway speeds, I tried locking the car in open loop and leaning out idle/cruise AFR's to 16:1 and saw absolutely no improvement in mpg.

EDIT
With a quick search I found this ---> http://www.intercepteft.com/calc.html
A helluvalot easier then doing it with a calculator and math. ;)

I keep a good record of every fill up, as well as comparing my 91 oct MPG's vs. my E85 MPG's. Assuming E85 hovers around $2.89ga and 91oct hovers around $3.47ga, which we all know isn't going to happen...
E85 STATS
E85 Price: $2.89ga
E85 MPG: 18mpg
E85 cost per mile:$0.161
E85 miles per dollar: 6.228

91oct STATS
Gas Price: $3.47ga
Gas MPG: 24mpg
Gas cost per mile: $0.145
Gas miles per dollar: 6.916 Best

How everything adds up...
Miles you drive per year: 12,000
Cost per year, fueled with E85: $1,926
Cost per year, fueled with gas: $1,735
Gasoline not imported by fueling with E85 (per year): 400 gals
Reduction in green house gases with E85 (per year): 2,883 lbs
