Hey Folks,

As the title states I'm curious what people are paying for 2GB GSX's that are in great condition physically and mechanically. I am in the market to purchase one, and I have found one I really like, but feel like the asking price is too high. Just want some input.

thanks

And this is why people part there cars out, a lot of money goes in and it's hard to get it back out. It sounds like a nice car and would cost a lot to duplicate build wise but then you run the risk of buying something somebody else did everything to and hoping it's all done right. That's a tough one man, me personally, I like to start from scratch or close to it.

Oh yeah, I understand that. The thing is my wife would never let me 'invest' the money into a build, but if I were to buy one that is built. She can't complain about me fixing things. If that makes sense. I offered 10k for it, I felt like that was reasonable. He is saying the least he would take is 13K, which I know a lot of money has been invested. At the same time, there is only so much of that money you can get back you know? Do you feel like I'm being unreasonable offering 10k?

10k is what I thought he would be asking, considering how cheap most dsmrs are (no offense us) you might just sit on that offer for a bit and see what happens. I doubt the car will move fast. Throw it out there wave the cash and leave him with your number if he changes his mind. My wife gave up on getting mad at me for buying parts haha.

I think 10k is very reasonable. To pay more than that for a used dsm is not easy to do. I'm sure he spent more than that on the build but you can never get back what you spend.
I just bought a gsx a month ago in pretty good shape relatively stock for $5k which was probably a little too much but I'm happy with it.

I bought someone elses build once for $12,600. Drove the car for about 2500 miles, pulled the pan, metal shavings everywhere. Won't make that mistake again.

If a reputable shop/builder built it, okay. Some nobody in his garage? (Like myself haha) no way. Just my experience.

Edit: just read he works at mitsubishi, that wall of text is hard on the eyes haha

Offer what you feel it's worth and don't look back. If it's meant to be it will happen. That's the most valuable piece of advice I implemented when looking for mine.

I think that is the right play, it really is the one I would like to get. I think my offer is very reasonable, and like you said it most likely isn't going anywhere fast.

I really feel like there are some folks out there who still understand these cars aren't worth what they were years ago. That's awesome, I'm crossing my fingers! Post some pics!
A few weeks ago I bought a bone stock black 97 GSX auto 210k miles on it. Motor was rebuilt at 170k doesn't matter because Im swapping the motor any way, for $1800. Interior/exterior is 7/8

My favorite part so far is the wiring harness is perfectly in tact
That's awesome! Good find!

No way! That is terrible! I'm sorry to hear that. It has been built by a professional/reputable shop with all of the paperwork. That still doesn't mean it couldn't have issues like that though...

I think I'm just going to let the offer sit, I think it's fair and he will hopefully eventually agree to it.

Yeah pretty shitty, glad I caught it before anything actually blew up. Looking back it was a bad buy, I had more money than brains at the time, but in the end I got reassemble the whole thing almost from scratch so I've learned a ton which is pretty rad.

Since this one is built by a pro and you know it then yeah let the offer stew, hopefully he comes down. I just got unlucky.
