ive been tinkering with a lot of the issues I've been having on my car since I got it back together. I have a set of bpr6es in it now gapped at about .028, and I've tried a couple other gaps too and still the same issues. I'm pretty much running stock boost with a ported 14b, MBC, Hacked 1g MAF, true 3in turbo back, FMIC, hard intake pipe/w K&N, AFPR set at 37psi with vac line disconnected, crushed 1g BOV, and a set of NGK wires... However I am experiencing break up and sputtering at WOT once I hit about 15psi, so I was gonna take everyone's advice and switch to the colder bpr7's, just curious what everyone is gapping them at because I think I am experiencing spark blow out with the 6's and it only does it once the car has been at operating temp for a little while...so what are you guys gapping your 7's at??? Just would like to see how other people's cars are running/reacting with the 7's and the gap they are using...and my new ECM Link cable will be here tomorrow so I can get that up and running too finally!!!!

I put the plug wires on about 2 weeks ago I had them in my toolbox they came out of my old 1g and they were like new prolly only about 4k miles on the wires and I changed the plugs at the same time and put the 6s in and the plugs that were in it were 7s but no clue how long the 7 were in the car for...I just got my ECM link cable today so I might go hook it up and pull some logs see what's up

You should not be experiencing spark blow with a 14b. Something is off for sure as it's not like you are pushing 50+ lb/min or air though the engine. I would suspect a weak coil or bad wire, poor connection etc.

That said, have you tried the non-projected electrode plugs? NGK BR7ES. BPR7ES The P is for projected electrode. Most people switch because they have seen an improvement with being able to run more agressive tune before encountering knock. But I suspect havnig the non-projected electrode should protect the spark from being blown out as easily. I would say give them a try, however you should still find the real problem.

On your setup stock gap is good/ You just have bad wires or coil pack. Seen it before.
I would break up over 50lbs/min unless she was TIGHT..... .018 roughly was the sweet spot. That's the case for most people running over 30psi and 45+lb/min flow. Stock-ish power= stock gap, wringing out 250hp/Liter? LOL, that requires a tighter gap.

I've hear tales of running a spark box like msd or something and individual coil packs will allow a wider gap but for the money there's no point when stock, working coil packs are plenty plenty strong with decent wires.

Good luck

I think I found my issue guys I had my link running and started doing some logs and once the car warms up the front O2 sensor is not cycling and therefor it is staying in open loop and not going into closed loop...but I think that is one of my big issues now waiting on a new sensor now.

Well I figured out that I was having issues with my MBC witch I fixed and it holds a solid 14psi. And my front o2 sensor was bad and not cycling and it was pretty much locking it in open loop mode in my ECM Link. But I gapped my plugs to .28 put a new o2 sensor in along with fixing my MBC and the car runs great now and pulls hard...I guess that $40,000 STI figured that out today LOL...now to tackle my oil leak witch I have another thread for. Thanks for the help and info guys!!!

.028 is what I run on most of my dsms. Many use this spec with success.
