I have a friend with a built 4G63 engine and he is looking at using it to power his boat! Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I've seen quite a few car engines in boats but never a 4g.

From what i understand it is illegal to use car engine in boats. My buddy tried and actually got a hefty fine.

I'm clueless when it comes to the legality of boats and such. I don't doubt it could be illegal. I know for it to work you have to marinize (sp?) multiple parts of the engine. I think some older Oldsmobile engines are fairly common.

I believe he had a early 90s vette and used the sbc engine (lt1) he then ran in to the fine. Haha. I think any boat engine can go intona car but there are specific parts you need to make the engine you take from a car and put in a boat.

This has to be a state by state law.

To the OP, I haven't seen a boat but I have seen a 4g63 sand rail. it was awesome. Also be sure to keep in mind the different cooling systems. There are some interesting 4cylinder turbo boat projects on youtube but no 4g63 projects that I can find.
