I have a 2.4 on 10:1 compression 6bolt with 1g ported head awd. Just switched over to e85. I was previously on pump gas or 110 leaded race gas, i was using BR8ES for plugs. Is this still the plug i should start with or should i try something else. The car has an hx40 and at 32psi link estimates hp at 650, gonna turn it up to see if i can max the turbo out. I have to close the gap way down to prevent spark blow out even though i have coils that aren't more than a year old and an MSD box. I see people claming they are running close to .022 gap but i can't run nearly that unless i turn the boost way down. Wondering if this could be a plug issue.

I ran at 33psi with BR7s, conservative timing and around a 12:1 afr. Gap was low, about .018 to .020
Was told run hotter plugs with e85. Maybe try some EDIT 6s? Non projected is good as well, you are on that i see.

I run 30psi with some spikes to about 33 on E85. I've had no problems with the non projected 8s (br8es) gapped at .014. I am using the stock ignition with the biggest wire Taylor offers for dsm's.

I have my gap on .013 to .014. Kinda thought i could have a bit more gap with the msd dis but looks like you and I are very close. I have msd wires as well. 12:1 afr with my timing unchanged from pump gas so like 5 degrees at peak torque and raises to 9

Wow, I never thought of gapping my plugs that tight. I am experiencing spark blowout when I turn the boost up to 30 psi. When I am only at 26 psi it runs great. I have br8es gapped to 0.018 so after seeing this thread I am going to try gapping them a bit tighter. I am also just on new stock ngk wires but I have bigger Taylor wires being delivered tomorrow. Hopefully these things will fix my issue!

I am having same issues with my HX40 setup, 10:1 compression on a 2.0 liter on stock coil and new NGK wires with plugs gapped at .022 so I am going to try the much smaller gap and see if it helps me too. I am still on 110 blended with 91 but soon switching to E-85. We seem to all be in the same boat, when I run 30 psi, it runs great....until spark blowout (I assume as everything else is working fine). Tagging this thread to see what else comes up. :hmm:

Glad to see that i'm not the only one. I almost decided to buy new wires and a brand new msd dis , may still do the wires but probably hold of on the msd, unless i can't get to 40psi.

Use some dielectric grease on the wires too. I had a car at the shop that kept getting black buildup in the #1 wire at the coil. Ran like crap at WOT. Don't know if the wire wasn't sealing right or just had a bad spark but the guy said it would build up every few weeks. New coil and wires fixed it for good though.
