Hey there fellas, I have recently fallen in love with a built AWD Talon Tsi I found in Canada, I'm all ready to buy her and bring her home except Chrysler refuses to give me the letter of compliance because they have a problem that I'm a US citizen buying and importing a car rather than a Canadian citizen simply moving across the border.

I've spent days contacting every conceivable outlet, (Various branches of Chrysler, dealerships, brokers, Mitsubishi motors... ex.) and none of them are either able or willing to give me the letter I so desperately need. Considering the fact that there is no legal provisions preventing me from importing this car, and simple stubborn Chrysler employees, do you know of someone I could contact or if you've imported one of these mad rides how you managed to do it please help a brother out... because love is tough....

Thanks

Canadian cars post 1995 complied with all us standards.

If you are taking the car from the US to Canada there should be no issue. Canada import laws are much more lax than the US. I believe any car over 10 years can be imported into Canada. That is why they ha e Evo 4 and 5 there already.

That's odd. I had no idea that you couldn't import from Canada to USA...my parents bought their US car from 2010 MY and brought it here no problem. I'd press the issue personally, if you don't simply want to buy the same car locally i.e. an Eclipse GSX :p

Basically, you should just press Chrysler to tell you why they can't support bringing it over. They need to cite "Substantial safety...or emissions violations". If it's minor things, you should have the option to get it brought to spec at a local dealer. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It appears to be company policy, Chrysler strait up doesn't give them out unless you live in Canada and are moving to the US

What about having the seller just tell Chrysler they are looking to move to the U.S.? Would Chrysler need proof they are planning to move?
