That is a 100% genuine fake. Purchase something like this only from an HKS verified vendor. If it looks to good to be true, it is.

I bet if you purchased three of them, they would all have the same serial number.
The box looks paper thin (not a trademark of the genuine product).
The fasteners look cheap, and the vacuum fitting looks too long.
HKS has to keep making new versions because of how good fakes have gotten.

Total noob here, what is the worst thing that can happen if it is fake?

Worst case scenario... you support the knockoff guys which is less money the genuine companies getting which means less parts designed and released which then means the company shuts down and then we are all stuck with junk parts from ebay.

In ADDITION to that, what is the worst case scenario that could DAMAGE my car :)

;)
And how likely is that to happen?

So how the heck do you know if the thing is original or fake if its used :(

Spotting a Fake HKS SSQV

Looking closely at their photos in the eBay listing visually the bov itself looks genuine (assuming those are the actual photos of the item they're selling), which is advertised as such in their eBay listing too in their "Why Buy From Us?" section below.

All of our parts are 100% genuine...

The only thing I question is the supplied universal adapter, circlip that's not SS, and thin (which was mentioned above) cardboard box which only comes with the fake according to the link above.

It's a pretty legit looking HKS and, if you do get it and the seller advertises it as 100% genuine HKS, you could always do a return claim in Paypal as "Item not as advertised" and get your money back.

OR

You could go as far as asking the seller if it's a genuine HKS SSQV IV? :idontknow:

Gofer, more and more i look at your link, i see this thing as the real deal. Can someone point out anything im not seen ...

I think thats what I'll do, and come back here with the REAL pictures.

Ifs its the same as pictures WHY & HOW the heck can he sell it for that cheap if its the real deal.

I want to buy it just for the heck of it to see it how it REALLY looks.

I did that, still waiting for the answer :)

BTW DAAAAANG its a good copy (if it is one and if the pictures are correct and IF this IF that LOL)

Its pretty easy to post pictures of a real product and send out fakes. It's happened countless times before, especially when the seller has multiples of the same item that he's clearly selling at a compete loss(its more than $100 below a vendors wholesale price.) Do you really think he'll take a $1000+ hit to move inventory? The choice is yours. Its pretty obvious to me their fakes, but prove me wrong.

I GOT TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS THING :)

The pictures are real BUUUUT the product is not. Its a daaaaarn good copy and MR. 100% GENUINE can put this thing in his own car :)

Please correct me if im wrong.

1) FAKE - Space between HKS label and edges is different uneven gap
REAL - Perfect symmetry and even gap
2) FAKE - crooked (not straight) line on the bottom of HKS "boxes"
REAL - Perfect line

That's fake! Bosske why don't you spend your money on a good tested one like the ngr type s?

Im looking for HKS or Tial because I'm getting VRSF 2G FMIC Kit and they have an original add on for those two

It comes with the stock 1g and also fits type s bov's. It costs like 20 bucks more for the hks flange what's the point you can run higher boost with the ngr. It sounds good too I've had both

I'm totally noobing all this with 3,000 hrs on google, dsm forums and manufacturing ppl. If you guys know for sure one option is better than the other PLEEEEASE let me know and you will make my life much easier :)

No idea LOL. I have a dsm mechanic that will be putting all this together and DSM GURU that will be tuning it (hes tuning cars that are shipped all over USA).

The set up that i will be running is
-FP Intake
-EVO 3 16g
-VRSF fmic ShortRoute
-FIC 1050cc
-ECMLink V3
-3" From turbo back with cat
-AEM a/f gauge
-Autometer boost/vacum gauge
Some parts i already bought and others im researching any trying to see which is the best option to run it relible, fast and nontrack ;)

Whatever he thinks is the best and gets me the most power, goes :)

Will be getting some kind of better clutch too since the oem will not be able to handle all this when he is done with it (he says). I love the guy (nohomo) and i trust him with anything he says, we go waaaaaay back.

The best bang for your buck, considering your setup, would be a stock 1g or Evo IX bov. They won't break the bank and they'll function like you need them to...

The nicest aftermarket bov in my opinion is the Tial Q or Tial QR (which is the one that you'd want to run) but overkill and unnecessary for your setup.

Wont work unless you run speed density or buy an additional bottom end that recirculates. You dont need an aftermarket bov with the turbo your running. Its unnecessary and wasteful. For a vrsf kit, stick to a stock 1g bov.

Also, dont buy the fp intake or if you already have it dont run it. You will lose power on a stock frame turbo.
