I have a 91 talon tsi that I plan on going on long trips it sat in my neighbors garage for almost 10 years it has matching vin the the car the transmission is a galant vr4 5 speed, I'm not a gear head and this is my first turbocharged car what can I do to ensure it lasting forever other than driving habits, I was wondering if I should even tune it, doesn't that add more power? I'm trying to get close to 30mpg of better, it's completely stock from the factory other than the transmission? Can anyone help me with ideas and if ecm would help me get what I want out of my car

HAHA Idaho... timing belt should be first on the list before you do anything. Ecmlink is great. In stock form with a modest right foot gas mileage is actually not too bad. You can tune a stock car and get some gains but in your case you can also just run it stock and enjoy it for a bit as the stock tune keeps the car pretty safe.

The classifieds on here will be your best shoot at ecmlink for under 500 but they go quick sometimes.

ECMLink is a ton of fun once you really start learning about how it works and how to improve. The stock tune is quite rich so there are probably some fuel savings to be had.

I think Craigslist might be easier to scoop one for under $500, but definitely keep an eye out here. The turn-around is quite fast if it's priced low, so pull the trigger quick if you're sure you want it.

There is one for sale now (if is not already gone)

I been looking for ecmlink V3 (2g) for a looong time here and literally refresh classifieds every min :D to see if someone has it for sale. Like canadian-CD9A said, they are gone fast Good luck
I was actually tempted on getting that when I saw it, On my 2g I just bit the bullet and had them convert and socket mine since (at the time) I would have only saved like 50 bucks, so I figured I would just have them do it so they could inspect it as well. Plus the people selling it at the time had some negative feedback and that was a lot of money to risk. But that is a good deal you posted.
