Im looking into purchasing a 1990s eagle talon TSI , well simply because 420a isnt making me happy and due to the cost and unworthyness of a 420a to GST swap i went in search of a car or roller.

My question today the car that im looking at is cheep 800$ and the only problem with that is no title, no keys.
Now before you start the DONT BUY CAR WITHOUT A TITLE. Ive done this before and thats how i currently owne my 1996 eclipse gs. Ive already Ran the VIN by the dmv and they said theres no lean against it.

So title is not of my worry, my problem now is figureing out how to get keys for this bad boy.

What are the costs of having keys maid??

Is it going to be better to install push to start??? (like my eclipse)

Just looking for all around answers regarding to the KEYS being maid and costs to due so.

Once again i have done this title process before and im not scared of it at all, just have to becarefull on buying car with no title before checking vin.

I'm sure it would be at least 100 bucks. More expensive if you have them come out to the car. If you brought the ignition cylinder in it wouldn't be as expensive since they don't have travel. I can ask my locksmith friend tomorrow.

Please do that would be a huge help to me, I wouldnt know how to get the ignition cylinder out of the steering colum simply because i havnt messed around with a 1g car.

I would assume its a easy task.

I work for ford, and I can only get key codes back 10 years, so when people lose keys to a 1999 windstar, I call a lock smith and they come out and build a key to the lock. Fairly inexpensive I believe. ~75 I think, but that is also probably our dealership cost.

On a 1G an ignition lock cylinder is a pain to remove since that is how it is designed to be (for anti-theft purposes). An easier thing to do would be to remove a door lock or hatch lock and bring that to a locksmith. There is one key for every lock in the car, so say a door key would also work as ignition key.

Would the key to the door be the same as the ignition?? i know on my sisters ford truck theres 2 diffrent keys 1 for door , 2 for ignition.

Im sure a handle will be much more...easier.

Should be the same key for both yes. And you actually need the key to take the ignition out the proper way. Easiest would be glove box or door lock cylinder. Take it out and to a locksmith and have a key made :) I paid less than the price to making a key for all the replacements locks I got out of a part out. Just gotta find someone parting out a 90 and there ya go!

Hatch latch is the easiest to remove. Think mine cost $35 to get made. Just call a locksmith in your area and ask how much.

Well i dont owne the car yet , but technicly its already mine......:talon:ROFL , ill start Researching locksmiths in my area, Thanks guys ill let you know if i have any issue with her when i get her.

(cause a car is a woman and deserves to be treated like one)

My locksmith friend said it would run around 45 bucks if you brought in the cylinder. He also said that in some cars not all the locks have the same wafers in the cylinder so while it may open the door it may not turn the ignition. He also said that one of the cylinders may have a key code on it that they can use to cut the key. He said he had rekeyed a lot of Hondas and that the glovebox cylinder matched all the cylinders in the car. That may be the case with our cars and would be the easiest to remove from the car. I'd call a few locksmiths up and they may know for sure.

Ill just remove the cylinder , when i get the car and bring it to a locksmith 45$ for a key is much more affordable on my tight budget.

no need to go back and forth with the door key and the ignition key. ill pull both if i have to.

Just an update on what had happened . the talon was totaly to much and needed alittle bit of everything.

I had to get a new key to my talon as I lost the other. I just took the title to the dealer. With my ID and had a new one made for 12 bucks.

hmm a chrysler dealer in my city cut me an ignition key from the vehicle VIN for free, and i have no friendship with him. I just showed up and he did it in less than 5 minutes

Free is a good deal also. I wasnt gonna complain about 12 buck though. Key cost is really about it. Did you have to prove car was yours? If not that seems kinda sketchy.

Whatever the cost of replacing the ignition or getting key. Made, its cheaper to do a push button amd kill switch, it cost me about $10 for two 20 amp switches and a push botton, im not sure about other models but my 91 talon tsi there were 6 wires total, i ran the power to the 2 hiden switches and their wires,(fan, dash, fuel pump, ext.) Then run the power wire and ignition wire to the push button. So for about $10 and 30 minutes of work you can wire it all up, plus if you hide the switches somewhere you cant crank it unless you know where they are

I had keys made for my junk yard find 1GA, it only cost me $15, just pop out the lock cylinder from the trunk [it's easier then removing one from a door, and it lowers the labor cost of the locksmith] take the cylinder to a locksmith, and tell him you want a key made for it, this is who I used at the $15 price http://www.customlockandalarm.com I'm sure there is someone local to you that can do it, just lookup local lock smiths in the yellow pages, or google it.
