Hey fellas!

So tonight I did a few things to my car. Nothing to serious. I took off the smic and cleaned it (I used gas and it came out looking real dark) and I then cut the bov dump tube and finally installed a MBC.

So I went to do a few pulls and set the psi where I wanted it. I started at the lowest possible setting and I was at the same psi before I installed it which was 13. So I then tightened it up and again it was at 13. I ended up tightening all the way down and it was hitting 14. So I'm assuming the cheap MBC I got off amazon is crap? The vacuum hoses I used are a little bit smaller then the stock ones but they werent very hard to put on. Idk if that could affect anything. I used the nipple on the turbo and the the nipple on the waste gate actuator.

The real problem that came though is when doing the few pulls my car seemed as if it wasn't getting enough air or getting too much air. I couldn't really tell. It almost felt like small backfires but they weren't. I don't have any boost leaks. I have a stock bov but was gonna set the psi to 12 and just keep it mellow until I get a uicp and a different bov. But I do not understand whats happening. I would do it the worst in first and second gear and when at full boost. Doesn't do it all when I'm not at wot. Ill be the first to admit I that I don't know shit about cars and what not but I doubt its the dump tube mod and assume it has to be the MBC. Also i left the bcs where it was and just kinda pushed the bcs vacuum lines to the side. I don't know what to do with them.

Please help me figure this out. You guys always help me out. Thanks a lot in advance.

Well if you didn't hook something up you could have a boost leak. Just to verify, is the bcs still hooked up at all? or just plugged into the harness? Obviously a bcs and a boost controller will not play very well together. I know it's a pain but it may be time to learn how to perform a boost leak test. As a dsm'er it will serve you well. If the small backfires you are describing was a result of boostcut you'd know it. It's a violent jerk as the ecu cuts fuel.

The bcs is still mounted and the wires are still there but the vacuum hoses are disconnected. Its just chilling there. And what was happening definitely was not violent. It was small studders. Before I put on the MBC I had zero issues. I put the MBC on and now my car studders and wot and I can't adjust what psi I'm at.

Well it was a boost leak causing the bogging. Which probably explains the MBC not working right. Still not sure why my car is hitting 14 psi with just bolt ons. I ended up unplugging the MBC and hooking the bcs back up. Could the bov dump tube mod increase psi?

How did you have the MBC hooked up? If you are still on stock intercooler piping, I wouldn't be messing with it too much. It is practically impossible to not have leaks with a stock BOV and piping.

One line going to the turbo and the other going to the actuator. I looked up several threads on installing them so I'm positive I did it the right way.
