Ok so i rebuilt my 92 talon, it has forged internals, a ~25G custom turbo, a stage 4 head, with 276 cams, and 510 evo injectors.

I have no money for engine management so there is none currently. I figured it would be able to at least run and idle roughly without, but it wont stay at idle, and dies after a few seconds off the gas. It seems rich so i switched back to stock injectors and raised idle, but it just seemed to stay on only for a few seconds longer than with the 510s.

Please help suggest what i might do to run this car as of now with no engine management, but please feel free to respond with anything even engine management advice.

ThankS!

Why do people purposely choose to do things the hard way? Judging by your mods you must have researched some i assume? Upgrade paths are pretty well laid out for any dsm owner here. Research.

Tmoney i understand i pretty much need dsmlink, but like i said dont have the dough and really thought i could get it at least to idle roughly and then i was going to drive it to a tuner. Im opening a business and have no time..

yes research i know, i dont need to research i know, thing is i was hoping someone might of had some knowledge to possibly get it as is running roughly.

the turbo I built from a 20g and a larger unmarked precision turbo. so if i remember correctly the compressor is a 20g turbine and the turbine is the precison side.. its a frankestein 25ish-G if you had to give it a name, not that a 25g is real or anything.

Honestly yes it should run, however not well. I've witnessed several dsm s with larger cams and no ems run, of course it's not right. Back in the day a friend of mine over 10yrs ago run 550s with a gutted mas and no ems, again not the right thing to do anymore. Op you need to check and make sure all your intake pipes are connected and you have a proper working mas. Once you do find the issue do yourself a favor and don't plan on driving to much. It's just not a good idea especially anymore. For what link costs it's cheap especially looking at what ems s systems run for other platforms. The cobb v3 I have in my focus st cost more than my link did and it cannot let me do near what link can. Good luck and remember not to drive it running Rich will wash your rings and put a lot of gas in your oil that Wil destroy the bearings

I'd suggest to tow that thing man, When I upgraded to 560 cc injectors prior to the tune I started it up and the air fuel ratio was 9.4:1 I was just like woooow so yeah deff not a good ideal to drive like that

What? I don't get this statement? What good would driving it to a tuner be if you don't have anything to tune with? DSMLink isn't like some of the other tuning systems where you flash a ROM. You need to have the DSMLink chip installed in your ECU. And as far as I know, non of the flash-able tuning solutions are easily available for a 1G. DSMLink is really your only choice.

I have a similar build to yours with, kelford 272's (with supporting valve springs and retainers), 550cc's, 20g, and some other light mods. I can tell you on start up it would not idle at all on its own as it was completely out of tune and running very rich; due to the 550's and cams. I do have an SAFC (not the best, I know) and a wideband to tune with for now and have got it to run and idle on its own within correct A/F ratio's. I can tell you it will be impossible to make work without tuning and it can be quite dangerous to your engine. I suggest you take it somewhere to be tuned or pick up DSMLink as others have suggested. It is the best choice and pretty much the only thing you can do.

he actually holds some truth to his attempt. i got my car to start with hks 272s fic 1150s etc on a stock ecu before putting in my aem. was actually drivable as well, although couldn't get it past 2500rpm without hiccups. the reason why it's so rich when you start it with the gas depresses is because you're running the same pulse width on the stock ecu with bigger injectors. the fact that it starts better with stockies tells you that fuel isnt necessarily your issue, but don't rule it out. make sure all your connectors and sensors are in working order. TPS, CAS, MAP, IAT, MAS (if applicable), all can be culprits. also, idk what stage 4 means as far as tuning goes your injectors are wayyyyy too small for your setup. with that list of mods you definitely need more than a stock ecu. look around for an aem v1, it's a great platform and you can generally find them in the $400 range now days.
