I recently picked up a green 2gb Talon TSI and it has mint gray leather interior but I also happen to have most of the black interior from 99 GST I parted out in near mint condition which I'll sell if I stick with the grey....now I'm kind of torn on what to do I really like the look of the gray but I know that the black is quite a bit more rare...although I will admit I never got as excited about it as others...a factor i am considering is if I keep the grey I'm good to go but if I go with the black I have to source a dash and center console as the ones I have are broken...what would you do?

I would keep the grey man. They both are nice interior looks. But to have to spend more money for the black you could save money with the grey and since you are on the fence about them both it won't be a loss:thumb:

I have grey leathers in my 97 gsx. My buddy has black in his 99. Mine has twice the miles as his and his seats are all cracked and fading. The grey interior holds up better to the sun any day.

Once you go black...

Seriously, the black interior is 100x nicer than the grey. I owned both. The black lasted 13 years for me and looked very good up until I yanked and sold it (gutted track car) but I have always had 20% tint and took good care of it with quality leather care products which most people are too ignorant or lazy to do.

Keep in the mind that the black will get way hotter in the sun and as a result crack and fade more quickly. Besides I bet that green/gray combo is gnarly. I would rock that any day

It is all up to personal opinion, as mentioned above, original black leather interior is getting harder and harder to find. I personally love the black interior look, but it does get hotter if you don't have tints.

I don't know how it is where you live, but where I live, it gets so hot in the summers and for most of the year really, that I would probably never own a car with black leather interior.

I've had grey cloth, tan leather, grey leather, and most recently got a 99 with the full black. It is 100 times better than any other interior offered in a DSM.

I could use grey for a 97 TSI.....if you decide to rid yourself of one set.

My personal favorite is a combination of the two. Black upper dash, upper center console, door and quarter panels and grey lower dash panels, center console sides, carpet and seats. That's how I had my first 2G. When I switched to the Spyder, I didn't have the parts to keep it that way, but I would go back in a heart beat if I could source the door and quarter panels in black for a convertible.
