Hello guys. First post on this site so bear with me here. About a month ago I purchased my 97 gsx, that had a whole list of issues that I'm taking care of. Today was taking care of the exhaust. I managed to snatch a full apexi exhaust for 350$. When I finished putting it on, it was rubbing against, the transfer case. It was rubbing to the point where I couldn't tighten the downpipe to the o2 housing fully. The exhaust was put in all the hangers and even though some were cut, it is still rock solid. Anyone have any clue?

I'm not sure how a legit apexi looks like. It has the apexi badge on both the downpipe and muffler can. It has a purplish coating. My brother has one and he said it looked good. Or you think it could installation error on my behalf?

What exaust did you take off? If it was an after market downpipe the car could have an evo o2 housing which has a slightly different angle flange.

Well the o2 housing is a stock t-25 because the apexi downpipe bolted up to it. To my knowledge, this dp wouldn't even bolt on to an Evo o2. The pipe touches the transfer case right after the flex section bend.

Evo3 o2 housing he was referring to... Its the same as the 2g housing but the downpipe flange is at a different angle and can cause figment issues.

So I took a look at the o2 housing, based on some external differences I found between stock and evo 3 ,its indeed an Evo 3. Annoying that I need to get a new flange welded but good that I got the better of the two. Thanks for all the contributions
