Hi guys,

I have just purchased a 1G 4G63 Tuned by AMG engine 6 bolt with the purpose of adding a turbo kit and swap it in my 98' 2G Eclipse (also 4G63 N/A but a 7 bolt).

My question is what difference will it be from the stock 4G63T after adding the turbo ? It's very difficult to find one in Europe, so I decided to turbo the N/A and hopefully get the 4G63-T performance.

From what I know is that AMG "tuned" some of the old galants in Europe but only n/a 4G63's. I have no idea what they did to the motor physically but from what I've read before it's mainly just tuning in the ECU, so I assume not much difference from a stock n/a 4G63 without using the ECU that came with the motor.
But I really don't know for sure. Maybe someone else can weigh in on turbocharging a n/a 4G63 as I have no idea/ never tried as 4G63T's are plentiful around here:D

Yes it it, the AMG variant is from a Galant, but it also has some physically internals changed.

The AMG version features new pistons (which raise the compression ratio from 9:1 to 10.4:1), piston oil jets, aggressive camshafts, titanium valve springs, hollow rocker arms, a high-flow exhaust manifold and muffler, dual-stage Cyclone intake manifold and revised engine management. Give it a tank full of high-octane unleaded fuel and the AMG tuned 2-litre (coded 4G63) pumps out 125kW at 6750 rpm and 191Nm at 5000 rpm.

This is what I found regarding the engine specs.

Well to start the valve springs are not titanium, that is a myth. I figured the compression would be higher obviously didn't know how much tho (yikes) and I know that it does have oil squiters from a vr-4. The intake mani. is also the same dual stage cyclone but the runners are longer. So with more aggressive cams and a bigger TB than stock turbo models I'm sure it can put down power BUT looks like at minimum the Pistons should be swapped before boosting over probly 8-10psi

The first step I managed to pull off, which is getting the 6 bolt. I'll still be running my stock 7 bolt till I figure all the parts that I need for the turbo mod, it's going to take a while I guess, those parts ain't cheap.
The engine is without the intake and exhaust mani. The guy who sold the engine to me also sold those parts separately before buying the engine, so I'll need to get those as well from a 4g63 turbo.

I want to get the engine as close as possible to a first gen 4g63 turbo spec or higher. I'm kinda knew to all of this, I own my Eclipse for 2 years now and I think it's time for an upgrade. All I've been doing lately is reading on forum here how to turbo the engine and the swap itself. I'll be needing all the help that I can get.

The AMG Tuned cyclone actually is not the same as your average Cyclone IM. The plenum is very different as are the runner diameter and angles. It's actually a really bad-ass Cyclone for those who want the benefits of the Cyclone, but none of the drawbacks. I wish I could get my hands on one, tbh. I'd swap to a 1G head in a heartbeat.

Should be extremely easy to physically turbo it. On here all the time people sell stock turbo everything you'll need like Injectors, ECU, ex. Manifold, turbo & downpipe ect.
