It's come to my attention that a young DSMer could really use some help, and since this isn't the first time we've seen something like this happen in our community I figured I'd personally post a thread and see if we can round up some support for this kid. His name is Cody Fasano (@codyfasano), he's 22 years old, and he's been diagnosed with T cell acute lymphocytic leukemia. Here's the info that was sent to me about him from a friend of his named Brad (@untouchablecc):
Basically a good friend of a bunch of fellow DSMers and a member on here has come down with T cell acute lymphocytic leukemia. We just found out on Thursday when he was admitted to University of Pittsburg Medical center on Thursday 4/11/15. We had been currently working on his 1g DSM every weekend we both had off and my mk3 Supra. His name is Cody Fasano 22yrs old, he is a mechanic at Megan Ford in Mt. Pleasant PA, he has a girlfriend, family ect. He has undergone a bone marrow transplant as of yesterday and are dosing him so heavily with chemotherapy they use the term "blast out"....

His outlook is really good as of right now. With him having T-cell ALL, as of right now he has no cancer in his brain and after chemo threatments his spine is clear. So it is regressing. I spoke with the Dr. at UPMC. He said his live, lymph glands, spleen, pancreas ect all were unremarkable or cancer free. He should be out of the hospital by May 2nd or 3rd. He will be off work for the next year and receiving outpatient chemotherapy until his is in full remission. He did have a reaction to the first type of chemo causing him some pancreatits but that has since passed. They switched his therapy out for another type of chemo.
Brad mentioned he'd like to help get Cody's 1g finished up for him to help him achieve his goals of hitting an 11.99 or better this summer. Brad is looking to raise money for the machine work, a set of Wiseco HD pistons, gaskets, and some odds and ends.

Feel free to send Brad a PM if you'd like to get involved and help out. Parts donations can be shipped to Brad and you can send Paypal donations directly to Cody - his email address for Paypal is [email protected].

And please do share this with your friends here and on Facebook. I hate cancer. And any chance I get to help someone fight it, I do what I can.

Hang tough buddy. My girlfriend had non Hodgkins and she pulled through. I know you can too.

Ok I will update as changes come up. We have just gotten the block off to the machine shop. I am going to be ordering ARP main studs here soon. I will get some pictures up.

We hosted a car show for Cody at my friends Sports bar (Black Roc Ale House in Greensburg, PA) we had a decent turn out and a ton of support from a lot of the car community. Makes and Models from all over came out. The Local Honda crowd was actually among the most supportive, they had sold some car stickers and donated all the profits to the cause. I didn't even know these guys before Sunday. I certainly wont forget. I will try to link the video.

Sweet! Thanks man. Here is a small update on how he is doing.
Cody is on track to be out of the hospital on may 9th or earlier. His platelet count and red blood cell counts are coming up on there own and holding. His latest bone marrow biopsy looked good. He's also super pumped to be getting out of the hospital. It has to feel like jail after a while.

Update! Cody's out of the hospital. He is back at home with his parents until he gets a place with his gf amber. He is going to be receiving outpatient chemotherapy once a month. He seems to be feeling better considering all that has happened. Some parts still hurt from what he says, hips, back ect. It doesn't get him down much. Here are some uplifting pictures.

Update on his engine. Me and a friend (Tyler Highroller) went and broke down his cylinder head. We are taking his 3 good rods, cams, crank, to the shop tomorrow (Monday). The cams and crank will receive a good polishing. Giggity. As of now the engine is on track.

If there is something I can do to help out on his build hit me up.

Im in too I have some odds and ends lying around let me know what you may need. Bless you hope your onto a great recovery.

Thanks for the support guys! So far we are in need of a good 6 bolt oil pump with straight cut gears. We don't wanna chance running his old one, its probably trash anyways after all the metal. Ricky Nichols said he has a tub full of them and would donate one. If anyone knows for sure if they have a legit pump that would help.

I have a head that needs seriously worked over I am donating to the build. It needs cut, a valve job, hot tanked, valve seals, pretty much the works. If anyone has one ready to bolt on that would help save on machine shop costs.

Thanks everybody I'm home as brad said doing pretty well trying to get my body strength and what not back. I'm on the road to a good recovery as of now. Thanks for all the donations and what not it's greatly appreciated. I'm in needs of odds and ends stuff really. Like a good 6 bolt timing cover another intake manifold my shifter base bushings are all blown out. I'm in need or engine gaskets oil pressure guage. That's just a few things I can think off the top of my head. Bigger items are gonna be pistons oil pump bigger injectors. Thanks guys I appreciate it alot. Brad untouchablecc has been helping me greatly

Pretty sure I have three good 1G pistons. I'd have to check the box next weekend but if I recall one of them hit the head, but the other three were ok. I glanced at them briefly the last time I was over where my parts are and was surprised how nice they looked. Not sure if stock pistons would work but I'd be happy to send them over.

Thanks for he offer bmxfelon, that is generous of you. His previous motor was forged so we are going to try and stick with that route. A few of his friends were thinking about going in on a set of Wiseco HDS. We currently have 3 good Manley rods from his old motor. He's going to order the fourth and we are good on that front.
