Hello everyone, this is my first post on Tuners. I have been around Evos and older DSMs, and I have decided to start my search for a 2g Eclipse or Talon. Guess I have to post 29 more times before I can do anything on here though.

Welcome. You'll find plenty of action for new members in the newbie forum and lots to learn even if you've been around for a while in the other read-only forums until you become proven.

Have fun

Welcome aboard!! :dsm::D

I will be on here often looking for a 2g auto, and reading about builds!

Welcome,I'm still new too . I have about 8 post left and than I'm proven . keep it up it will happen quickly people, are pretty cool on this site

I've already seen some really cool builds on here. Looks like I have lots to learn; I'm from the carbureted world!

Me too man ... I'm working on a 76 firebird formula I'm completely restoring. And a 96 eclipse.. But in the process of trying to find a gsx or gst

That's awesome. Old muscle rocks. I have a 71 Demon I'm redoing. It was an 11sec NA street car, but I'm going to completely restore it and turbocharge the 340 in it. I will have my work cut out for me when I get a DSM on top of that.

Dsm's. Are pretty easy man . just a lot less space so you get a lot of sores and cuts on your hands, but their well worth it.

Yes lots of smashed knuckles for me. Had my 99 GSt since 2012, but have not been real active on the forums before. Looking to give back! Welcome to tuners! most of the question you have will be already answered, but if not these are the guys to ask!

Good luck with the search, and my .02, get AWD.

Agreed, sir! I am looking for an awd automatic trans 2g gsx or tsi. Would prefer to get one that's all together, but am open to ones that have issues. I'm on the lookout.
Most of my time around dsm's has been working on a couple of my friends evo's. I have wanted a 2g since I was a kid, time to step up to the plate!

Going to look at one this weekend. Has some strut tower rust and some other small issues, no big deal. Great starter car!

Well, I got the car. Has a few more rust spots than anticipated. The radiator core support is literally rusted in half, strut tower rust goes pretty well through, sunroof rust, rust around the windshield (will require me to pull the windshield), hatch lid rust, rear fender and front quarter holes that my fist can fit into. Car runs and drives nice, but it will need to be completely torn apart and put back together after the rust has been cut out and the car repainted. I will be starting a thread soon as I can with the restoration. I will be searching the forum a lot to see what other people have done with their cars while I am in the process. I have my work cut out for me.

I've learned more about cars through my DSM than any other car I've owned.

I've found a 99 gst for 2000 he said he would take 1500 gonna go look at it tomorrow let's see if I can get it for,800 ..

This car was up for 4k and I offered him 2.5k and he took it. A lot of times you just don't know what you're getting when you get these cars; you kinda have to prepare for the worst.
A couple if my Evo buddies said that finding a running driving auto gsx in stock form was a "unicorn" as it is LOL. Good luck to you!
I'm not too worried about the rust. My TIG welder, some sheet metal, a grinder, a little POR-15, and some time will fix it right up and prevent more from coming.

I looked for one for years I found mine on the side of the road with a sign on it. Had rebuildable title but all the body work had already been done, but had never been taken to get inspected to get it legal again. Now almost 2 years later I am still trying to get it in complete working order though it has been inspected and is now legal. I got mine for $1300 when I bought it. And as all have said welcome to the forums I have been a member for a while and still probationary member since a lot of the questions you will ask have already been asked as long as you look for them.

So here's my dilemma .....I found a 99 gsx all power 5 speed ..my wife says no not another car . runs and drives great ...it's going to be my project street build .
So he wanted 2,200 I got him down to 1,100 and. Don't have that much I have 500 I offered him half down and I'll pay the other half off next month or two. So the question is do you go against your wife's request on this one..
I think so let me know what y'all think.
That devil inside is talking real loud.

Ha. I was with my other half when we looked at mine. She said no at first. Said the kid inside me wants it no matter what but the responsible 29 year old parent says "you have too many projects"! So I talked to her about it for a while and went over the costs, and went over the features that would help convince her. "It has cruise, it has ac, it has a nice leather interior, it has all wheel drive so you can drive it in the winter instead or you fwd car, it has lots of power and gets good mileage, etc. After I had her convinced I made an offer that was a decent deal for the seller and I. There was one catch though, I had to let her drive it when I'm done fixing it up until she gets out of school! So I sold my soul to the devil haha. After she's done with school it mine to build up and play with. Gotta make sacrifices!

Oooo a gorgeous girl with a gorgeous car haha imagine that but all of you are finding some nice deals! I ddnt even try to low ball the guy I bought m car from. He wanted 3200 and I offered him 2800 for it. Completely stock 95 talon awd with a limited slip rear dif and you know you can't pass that up!
