Ok, so I recently bought a 97 gsx, I'm planing on putting a intercooler and a bov. I was planning on getting the vrsf intercooler and a greddy bov. The engine is basically stock besides intake. I want to know if I need a flange? And when I went to the vrsf website my phone says its not a secure site for some reason has anyone had a bad experience with them? And how much work will it take to connect to stock turbo and how much modification will have to be done to bumper and piping

This will give you an idea on the install... This is for a 1g

However you have a 2g and if you are still on the stock T25 I think you need an adapter kit to make it work. Never owned a 2g maybe someone could chime in their. Don't be afraid to use the search as this site has uber amounts of info you just gotta look.

Vr speed make a awesome FMIC kit !! It will not work with your stock T25 turbo. With the vr speed kit you can specify what type of flange you need for your BOV.

I recommend a ngr bov. They also sell the adapter for the stock 2g intercooler piping for $15. Getting a front mount for a stock t25 is a waste in my opinion. Hard piping is around $100 and you won't need an adapter. I have a ngr bov with hard pipng for my 14b right now, and everything works good together. If u are looking for a fmic anyway, I recommend the punishment racing fmic. I have one but I still haven't installed it yet.

I would have to agree with 2ggst98 and say that it may be to soon for this upgrade and that you can spend your money else where and see much more significant gains. I'm running a evo3 16g and have not yet installed a fmic, I spent my money on supporting fuel sys mods and DSMLink. Now I think I'm ready for a fmic!

I have only had the car for a couple weeks but so i have already bought a 255 walbro, 850cc injectors, ecmlink, fiber hood, rims, halo headlights, and a couple other things. so im definitely working on it i want to get the 68hta down the road so that's why i want a good intercooler and bov so i don't have to re-buy anything later

If this is what your looking at, I do believe it's for a 14b, 16g ect as the J pip will match with the pipe given with the kit. But it is a nice kit, just think a little too soon if you on t25. Money can be spent else where to give you more bang for buck. Don't let me stop you buddy, as that is a good kit :thumb:

Yes that's the one! The car has a 3" exhaust and I bought 850cc injectors, and 255 walbro fuel pump, and black box ecu for ecm link! I'm hoping to upgrade to the fp 69hta turbo later. I just want to see if that's a good option

So if I'm not mistaken, a black box ECU is a 98-99 and is flashable and link won't work. A 95 ECU is going to be needed for link. Just want you to know :thumb: Maybe this is what you meant.

Maybe typo, and your swapping out the black box:idontknow:

Thank you!! I bought it and installed it but got misfires I couldn't figure out why I thought I had to tune it to fix it thanks for the info :)

I had a custom agp with a 3 inch wide core section that was a inch a so shy of almost being too big to be behind a bumper with a precision 42mm turbo. intercooler and bov should really be determined by the turbo being used in my opinion cuz the air is.gonna need space to go.somewhere to prevent backpressure detonation

well as I stated above I am planning on getting the fp 68hta turbo in the future and I just think of buying the j pipe then so will the vrsf be a good option? This is the website for the turbo this car will be my daily my goal is 350awhp http://store.forcedperformance.net/PROD/NTDSMFP68HTA.html

We'll you could be having miss fires for multiple reasons. Your car is a 97? Do you know what year the ECU is from? You did say black box ECU witch would lean 98 or 99, do you know if that is what is it?

If it is a 98 or 99 maybe it has a tune on it already and is causing a miss fire, or is your problem. :idontknow:

But kinda need to know what you got. Cause if someone was wrong and told you a black box ecu but happens to be a 95 chipped ECU with link then the miss fire would be the plug wires. :thumb:

If your having problems you might want to start another thread for that, people are not looking for an issue just to let you know about some intercoolers. :hellyeah: WOOOHH BOOOOST haha

but yea that VSRF is a great intercooler.

Yea we kind of went of topic. my car is a 97 gsx, the black box I bought it used the guy told me he had it in a 99! And I know it was the black box causing misfires because as soon as I put in my stock ecu the misfires were gone and now my car drives like a champ! Anyway about the intercooler I am getting the vrsf as some people here told me it's a good chooice I am ordering it now :)

It is a good one. I was going with that one, but the punishment racing was just fine for my needs. Saved little money, But good luck with your build dude wish the best. :thumb:
