So I wrecked my 96 gsx few months back and looking for some input. It took a hit to the front driver side and bent the front frame rail into the alternator. Anyone have an idea how much a shop would charge to straighten everything?

i would agree with the $1000 part. Its really up to you if you think its worth it. personally mine ive put enough work into it where i'd go threw the trouble to fix it

That's what I thought. If it's in the upper $1000's I might as well part it which i'd hate to do. Finding a shell is an option but the motor and tranny also need rebuilt soon.

Good pictures. Frame straightening is actually like $300 in most places. Once the frame is square again everything
else is not very difficult.
I have had frames straightened maybe 4 or 5 times, a good shop does it for a fair price and then the rest is easy.

Personally, for me, I believe that we need to preserve and repair these cars. They are rare and worthy.

I am surprised by that way your frame moved, It sort off squeezed in intsead of going up like ours did.

Right now I am repairing a GSX for the second time after a front end collision. Check out the post.
Just look for it under my forum name.

My costs for front end collisions never go over $500 for parts. All the labor is me.
If you must pay to have it done, expect about $2000. That price was quoted to me by a couple shops.

I def agree with rhodes2010. The frame work should be only a few hundred dollars at that. As for the rest of the repairs yes fairly cheap to do on your own. And looking at the pictures nothing else was really torn up. It looks like a blessing hit from the car gods says hey fix it up and keep this beauty running. But shouldn't cost you to much to have the frame straightened out.

What I would do is ask how much it would be to put the vehicle on a rack and how much time they charge per hour to frame straighten or what is known as "pull time".

I have worked auto body all my life. I would say that is at least $300-$500 in pull time

with probably another $ 1000-1500 worth of parts/labor to repl - before paint.

If you tear it down and bring someone the vehicle just to have the frame pulled it should be no more than $ 500 bucks - hopefully.

Good luck! She looks like a well kept 2g.
