Hey Guys, I bought a used car with a Holset HX35 and BEP Hotside. It's nice but I want more power. I also have a 335i with 450whp and an evo 8 with 805. I have run 11s and 9s respectively.

"Not bragging, I just know guys like to tell people to experience and get used to certain times, and I'm explaining to the world that I'm no rookie.)

Anyways, I would like an HX40 t3; I think I can get into the 10s with it. I'm just kinda confused concerning this stuff and would like help:

Can I use this turbo:

And this flange:

Finally, Thinking about switching my manifold to the FP for prime results.

Will this work? Do i have to buy a .55 or .70 bep (t3) housing for this to work?

Well I know that would be if I wanted to downside to the .55 OEM style housing. I'll probably do that If I decide to not source a hot parts kit, but As for now, I'd like to see who else has retained the oem housing with a t3 style turbo

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. It is almost as if all signs are pointing towards a MAP or STM hot parts kit and at smallest a Hofset HX40 t3/t4. But I gotta ask, there are plenty of FP blacks in evos running 10. Even a few 9s I believe. Is that the same for dsm's?

Yea definately !! Get the .70 hotside or run the stock hx40 exhaust side (16cm I believe). Might be a bit laggy with the stock housing but you said you dont mind lag !!

Normal cost for hot parts kits is around 1100 on this platform? This being an older car, I'm obviously pinching pennies. I'd rather just get a FP mani and FP black if kits cost that much. Blacks seem like the bigger turbo anyways

Hot side kit ? No you get the proper hotside which is $150-$300 and get a custom downpipe made.

I bet you can achieve that goal with a FP t31 housing machined for a hx40 wheel. 9cm housing/ roughly .69a/r. Stock manifold can be used, and same with the downpipe and exhaust if you do get the bolt-on o2 housing from FP. You will need to go external, but I dont know many with holsets who keep the internal wastegate unless its the stock housing the holset came with.

Sounds great, but that part doesn't seem to easy to find. I looked for a while, but it's discontinued. I have an external wastegate, and using all that stock stuff sounds great though. But after buying the o2 housing and turbo housing, and turbo, i just bought a ported fp black.... i hate that i'm thinking out loud but signs point to dsm just going black as it's cheaper to get in the 6xx's
