After a rebuild and an AWD conversion... engine bay now looks like this:
Evo7 Valve Cover
HKS 272's in/exh
Evo6 Fuel rail
Custom quick spool manifold (shortest possible)
TD05/6 billet wheel hybrid Evo4-9 stock frame style turbo
Turbo return line into block
Alloy manifold/turbo heat shield
Reverted back to stock VR4 ecu with custom chip
Alloy/steel 2.5" intercooler pipes

Just read this whole thread, you've done an AWESOME job With the AWD conversion this thing must hook up and haul!!! Totally subbed for this. After a rebuild and an AWD conversion... engine bay now looks like this:

Very clean setup! Loving the Evolution on the valve cover, even if it's not facing forward .
Curious why you ran the Turbo Return line straight into the block? Was that just so you could reuse the original oil pan with no modifications other than blocking off that port? I was always under the impression that the lower the turbo return port was, the better.

The 4G64 SOHC block have the extra oil drain ports to accommodate the Evo's ones. The head gasket will block off and seal the remaining coolant ports.
Wow JayRome, fab much?!? Lol. All this custom fab work makes me want to really focus on my welding skills in a big way. You are doing a killer job!!
Question: Is there any reason an Evo HG couldn't be used with a 4G64 block ?
Which g64 and which evo bro?
the G64 follows the same bolt pattern and bearing set up as the G63 era.... 6 bolt and 7 bolt, 1st/2nd/3rd gen blocks...
So it's possible mix and match gaskets accordingly..
The G64 in my '99 Spyder GS. The exhaust ports are in the front of the engine. I don't know the differences between the different evo G63s, but I was thinking of the 7 or 8 or 9.
On another note, it should be possible to take a 4g63 head out of a Hyundai Sonata and mate that to the '99 G64 block, is that right?
