Hello everyone my name is David. I just bought a 96 eclipse gsx a couple of days ago. Needs a few things but I got it for 2k so not bad. Has a evo 3 big 16g turbo on it and some chappy knock off bov. Also has a boost and air/fuel gauge. I already love this car. I'm about to do all maintenance to it as well as replace a shot clutch and a new cat back exhaust because well it doesn't have one at the moment. I owned a 96 gs about 15 years ago and loved that but this is my first turbo car. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome, Car looks good, is that duct tape one the intake pipe? Just curious what injector size are you running and what type of fuel? I just got a evo III for mine and im on the cc debate, mostly will be on 93 octane here.

Lol yeah that's duct tape. I will be changing the bov so I can recirculate again. The kid I bought it from did some weird things to it. I am currently running 650cc injectors on 91 octane however I will be upgrading to 1000cc bigger fuel pump so I can tune on E85. Highest octane we have here is 91. But baby steps. First is to get the car into better shape. Need to fix the sunroof as it doesn't close all the way and doesn't slide back.

Thanks guys! I took the car last night to a friend who specializes in dsm and turbo's to look over the car and there is. Grocery list of things needing to be replaced but when I'm done this car will be a beautiful rare gem. Couldn't find an awd eclipse in my area. I drove about 5hrs to pick this up from a 19yr old kid who didn't take care of it.

If that piece of tape get's sucked into the intake pipe you're fuked. I wouldn't drive the car like that.

Well, while you're under the hood, you should look into where your 16G is being fed oil from since it's not being fed from the head. If it's being fed from the OFH, you need to make sure the feed is restricted. If it's not, your 16G journal bearing turbo won't last long.

Thanks! I didn't know that. I will be looking at it tomorrow. I have a lot of little things to fix. Glad my friend is a mitsubishi specialist. He'll be helping me out getting this car back up to par.

Looks pretty clean under the hood. Definitely get rid of the duct tape, a quick fix (and upgrade) would be to get a 1g BOV and you can make a recirc tube out of simple hose from Home Depot. 1G crushed BOV holds good boost and dumping that air back into the intake will prevent your car from idling funny and running rich in between shifts.

Also, if you want to run e85 i would suggest bigger than 1000cc. They can handle e85 fine but that is considered the minimum needed to run it. I would spend a little more and get at least 1200cc just so you have room to grow.

I thought 2g's have a built in restricter in the oil filter housing?

welcome, and good luck! any plans for it?
Thanks! Yes I have a lot of plans for it. First is getting all maintenance done. Then I would like like to get necessary upgrades to run E85 get ecmlink to tune lower it 2gb kit list goes on. Lol. Want her quick and good looking. Eventually I would like to do some autocross. Need to have good mods while still being smog legal. Cali sucks for that! But yeah all in good time. Right now I'm happy to have the car.

Where'd you read that? 2Gs are fed from the head just like 1Gs. There's a restrictor built into the feed line from the head.

I read that a while back. My 2g was fed from the OFH with no restricter. Any time I've ever seen an oil line from the head on a 2g it was an aftermarket application
