so as the title states I have a 97 gst with the stock ECU... ive have ecuflash and evoscan with the 1.3U cable.... I can log data just fine with evoscan but I cannot get ecuflash to link with the ecu.... ive been doing a lot of research between the ceddymod, and other forums along with searching here as well... now to my understanding am I just screwed on the ECU that I have... is this ecu even flashable? or do I have to swap to a 98/99 ecu? im not really finding any information on the 97 ecu... and yes I know that ECM link is a lot more user friendly and trust me if the funds were available id have that with an eprom ecu...

thanks in advanced

then what is the purpose of the 1.3? because when I called the company to get support they told me that the 1.3 cable would be just fine.

I believe you were misinformed

A.The 1.3 cable I believe is used to flash the evo ecu. The best you can do is log. You need the 2.0 access our h8
B. You can't flash an ecu that isn't capable of flashing. Even with the proper cable.

To answer one of your points, yes you are screwed on the ecu that you have. You need a 98-99 gst, gsx, or tsi ecu or an evo ecu to flash. If you do the 98-99 ecu you have to use an openport 2.0. Period. If money is a major factor you may be better off selling the 1.3 and finding a used safc.

(insert colorful words):banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:.... well then thanks for the info everyone... I think ima go the route with the evo ecu... ive got a buddy that has one laying around hes needing to get rid of. can It be any year or is that specific to....and also I have heard that with the evo ecu that the injector pins need to be switched around. is there any truth to that?

If you do an evo ecu you will need to swap more than just the injector pins. There is a write up somewhere on this forum. I'm on my phone or I would just link to it. Sorry. It needs to be an evo 8 ecu. The evo 9 ecu uses a different 3 plug type of connector.

well looked at the PCB code according to the ceddys link and I have JE331B719C... which is not flashable... yay me wonderful LOL
