I just got a part time job offer delivering pizza. My DD is a 97 Tsi awd, a/t. The car was dealer maintained by the PO for the last 8 years. Car is mostly bone stock, except for intake and exhaust. New tranny 1k miles ago. So my question is: how much of a beating will she take if I'm delivering pizza all day, and is it worth it?

i did that for a while you will have good days, bad days ,and days you made $2 if its not a big chain pizzeria. you will be alright just dont turn off the car every time you stop and dont beat on it

I used to deliver pizza right after high school. You say "all day", do you mean literally all day or more like in the evenings? In my experience, I've learned that you should use a piece of s**t to deliver pizza. If this is your only car, then go for it but don't let the thought of being late for deliveries let your foot get heavy. An AWD Eclipse isn't fuel efficient enough (in my opinion) to make it a viable delivery vehicle.

I don't know how long you plan to deliver pizzas for, but to answer your question, she will see a lot of harsh accelerations and harder stops if you really care about being quick at your job. Being AWD doesn't help your case as you will eat into your tip money as you will consume more fuel and wear your pads faster.

This is speaking from my own experience anyways. It really depends on your driving habits.

My buddy that built my motor was working for dominos a long time ago and came up to a stop light next to a lambo...... He had a t4z88HTA LOL need I say more. Funny thing was he had the dominos pizza thing on his roof.

If it was me I wouldn't waste the mileage.

I plan on delivering 2x a week for 5 hours on my 95 awd tsi auto probably with a 300hp tune it will make delivering fun again LOL. I have to fix a few things before I do it. Why do you guys say dont turn your car off isnt that because of the turbo being hot or am I missing something?

Well this would only be delivering about 25 hrs a week, mostly to industrial parks, in an 8 mile radius. No time limit, so I'm not gonna push it. Also I don't have to put a stupid pizza sign on the roof. I realize my gas mileage already sucks, so I was considering seeing how it goes through the summer and maybe picking up a gs or rs for under a grand if I need to.
Not to mention, I'm considering this job because it pays under the table, plus tips, and I can't think of a better job than sitting in my DSM all day!:thumb::hellyeah:

Did it for years in my 95 gst back in the day!! Had so much fun and always got great tips for being fast gahaha. And get some numbers from the ladies that have good taste LOL!! ;)
So your saying dsms and pizza help with relationships..........man Ive been doing it wrong for ever! Thanks haha

Haha I don't know about relationships but hahah. Some fun no doubt! I actually met this hot blonde one time and she had a silver 2g too LOL. Had fun with her for months haha. Also since my boss was a cool italian baller. I always got him to hire hot phone girls LOL. Made work very fun to say the least. Can't tell you anything else sorry haha on that. Everyone Always loved my car, but so did the cops so just gotta watch out. They won't care if your a pizza guy hahah. Find some good routes that's low on cops and plan your tickets in a good route to save U time and make you money!! And don't F up the pies bro!! Haha no tips for that crap ;) oh if it's a ruff area don't leave the keys if the car and it running. If no worries than man let if run drop that sucka and bounce haha

I've been doing this for almost 2 years 50 hours a week. I love driving my car so getting paid to do it works out great. There's no point in speeding around its a waste of gas for what might be 2 to 3 deliveries at the end of a shift. Mind you this is in a mildly modified 1g (~450 whp). I've put almost 30k miles in this time but I keep my car maintained pretty well.

Yeah Autozone is a good place to buy fluids [at the least] and the rewards gets you $20 gift card for every 5 $20 purchases you make.also sometimes their rental tools can be handy to barrow at times... unless of course you already have all the special tools:hmm:.

"AUTO ZONE WARNING:ohdamn:" don't really speak dsm language to their tribal counter workers, don't mention, 7 bolt, 6 bolt, 4 bolt, 3 bolt, 4G63T, 4G64. 2.3/2.1 stroker, or de-stroker motors, etc. you will likely only confuse most of their primitive tribal people, and their village folk LOL, instead get your answers from dsm wisemen on dsmtuners .

I've had good experience with rockauto too, I prefer oem but for some stuff they can be decent.

Watch coolant temps so he doesnt blow a hg. Whatch oil to make sure he doesn't lose pressure.

Oh, I didn't know those two items were such a prevalent issue.. maybe the owner is at fault, not the car, if that's such a problem.

because Race car bro!

Ooooooh.

..
I'd still sooner take a 25 year old DSM than a 25 year old Honda. These cars are tough, when due diligence and common sense are applied. If people didn't daily them, you wouldn't see blocks with over 100k on them.
If I were doing a job X amount of hours on the road, I'd like to at least enjoy what I'm driving doing it.

I dunno... an NSX would be boss tho, but at the same time you wouldn't be delivering pizza if you had one because $$
