Would the T28 flow good enough on a 190 walbro and do you guys think the sidemount would get too hot? If so would you recommend I go FMIC or upgraded sidemount I kind of like that sleeper look.

Also if anyone can recommend any intercooler setups for the T28 that would be greatly appreciated!

Really got to search bro. Tons of info on this on here! Anything bigger than a t25, I say go fmic or a darn good smic. And rewire the w190 and you should be just fine. What do you plan to tune with and what injectors?

Thanks for the reply!

I have ECMLink V3 full to tune with. Stock injectors at the moment.

My buddy is running a 20g with a 190 at 20+ psi so the 190 will do. A stock side mount gets over heated pretty quick after a few pulls even with a t25. I'd suggest looking for an upgraded side mount or a FMIC.

Thanks for the reply!

That's good to know that the 190 pump will be able to handle my smaller turbo!

Any specific side mount or FMIC you could recommend?

I'm looking to go new just for the reassurance that it will last a long time.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

the t28 will work. or a 16g. just keep an eye on real intake air temp. not the air going into the turbo. stay in the efficiency zone. over boosting is where you start blowing hot air.

If you're looking for a new intercooler, it's going to be near impossible to find an upgraded smic. I am going for the stock look as well. I just recently bought a used supra smic, fabricated a top tank, and welded one of the stock 2g smic brackets on it. I wouldn't recommend doing the supra smic unless you fabricate the top end tank. There is plenty of threads on here covering supra smic installs, but the installs look too rough in my opinion.

I've done the supra smic route long ago. It worked just fine but was kinda a pain. They are old and brittle and after some abuse from me it barely was holding up. The fmic setup I made was way better and so much easier to fit and make supports for. If you want a bolt on no hassle kit go for
Vrsf or the speed daddy one that's cheaper! Can't go wrong, theres also punishment racing and you can always find the core you want and make your own. You can get all the piping and what not you need at siliconeintakes.com

The reasoning behind the upgraded sidemounts back in the day was to remain stock appearing, or to simply help out the budget.

With the affordable FMIC's on the market today, it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to upgrade the SMIC, IMHO.

I suggest buying a kit for your car. they are cheap now. I remember back in the day, there were only a couple of companies making the fmic kits for the 1gs. I spent over 900 for my first one

As stated above, your best bet would be to just go with FMIC, there are many affordable kits out there. I am personally running the CX Racing Kit bought off of ebay, very similar to the Punishment Racing one. Reason I chose this one was because i wanted to keep my fog lights. Fits great, looks great. Best of luck!
