If you have access to a manual harness I would definitely use it. I'm going to be looking for one in the future. I used my stock auto harness because I couldn't find a decent deal on a manual one when I was searching.

The 2.4 gs wire harness is already out of the car so it might be an easier route to modify it. Would I need to use a few connectors from the 95 harness? Once I get the car running I can just sell the 95 ecu (have to check if it is eprom) since I use an Evo 8 ecu. From the previous posts on the thread, it seems the hardest part of the awd swap is cutting into the convertible top frame to access bolts. I don't do any welding but I know plenty of people that do. Should be a fun project for a few weeks.
Well.. that deal fell through. I now have a 96 Gs-t auto rolling shell that I'm going to swap my 95 awd Talon to. Already pulled the seats out and the center console. I'll be messing with the peddles tomorrow. Anyone have a good pic of where to jumper the neutral safety switch?

I am in the midst of a slightly silly dilemna , I dont know what I should do first for my donor car , should I gut the interior before I drop the rear end and gas tanks will the electrical connectors be easier to get to , if the interior is out? or equal difficulty with the interior inside the vehicle . I feel like its easier if the car is gutted

Solid black wire and black with red wire. I cut my plug off when I fired up my car. Hope this helps

Thats the harness that connected to the gear selector "module" on the auto tranny right?

Nope I'll eventually get the whole harness tucked and re-loomed. Those other wires are now completely useless too.

It's the huge plug for the transmission with 12 wires.

That safety switch can be a headache. My car was AT to MT swapped by a PO and it took me a while to figure out why the hell it wouldnt crank no matter what LOL. Finally figured it out just by poking around in the zip tied AT connectors

Looking for gas tank replacement straps the old ones have seen better days ? are there replacements anywhere or do I need to fab them ?I'd prefer not to LOL

Hey, do I have to swap the ebrake cables from my 95 Awd manual to the 96 auto when I do the manual/awd swap? I am in the process of swapping the shifters and peddles and want to know before I put the interior back together.

Nvm, the answer is an unfortunate yes. Good thing my interior is still apart.

So in the mist of swapping my rear sub frames.i did lots of reading and I realized that I have a 95 rear differential and a 97 differential. I spun my rear wheels on my 97 and notice my axles turn the same way.i noticed if I spin the wheels on my 95 they turn in opposite directions.so this means my 95 is a LSD ? And the 97 is a open differential correct?now my new question can I just swap In my differential and axles from my 95 with the 97 tranny. 97 transfer case and 97 driveshaft with no issues? Both cars are manual transmissions .

I just starting my AWD Spyder conversion and didn't want to cut the rear bracing to get to the back left subframe bolt. Turns out with a decent pry bar, and a touch of grinding on the weld mine had on the fender tab, it is possible to get enough flex for the bar and plate to move out of the way.

You have it backwards, an open differential spins the opposite wheel the opposite direction if the pinion is locked and both rears are off the ground. A limited slip device will attempt to spin them the same direction if the pinion is free to rotate, if the pinion is locked it will resist turning at all.

As for the swap, as long as they are both either manual or both automatic 95 and 97 bits are the same.

I'm currently collecting parts to do my awd spyder conversion !

Had a question about the subframe bolts. Can I go through the side frame rail on the spyder to drop the bolts in for all bolts ?

No. The rear bolts you have to cut the top and pull them out to put longer ones in. See my picture up a few posts for the easiest way to get the driver rear out. I mucked it up a bit not knowing there was a short weld on the front edge at first. Grind that before you pry and you wont tear things up as bad as I did. The front you go in through the side.

Guys, I had several people now ask me for a drawing of my front subframe mounting blocks. So I am posting it here. I know that Jay White was very reasonable (price and time wise), but if he is no longer making them you can make your own.
