I have just upgraded to the big 16g, and i was wondering if there is a way that i can replace the stock wastegate, because the one that it currently on there doesnt work. It will not engage, letting the boost run to dangerous levels making my eyes constantly glued to the gauge when passing cars. :p So if their is a kit, or if i can order one, let me know. I just dont know what is required or if i should just scrap the turbo.

Thanks for the help. car- 1995 tsi awd

Are you sure you arent experiencing boost creep? The 16g family is highly prone to boost creep due to their wastegate outless design inside the turbine housing. This us usually solved by porting it out, running an external wastegate off the manifold, or getting the proper fuel system which you should have to be able to run what it's creepin to.

When you do fix this keep the boost at the stock wastegate level assuming you will still then have a stock fuel system.

Did you test the actuator with an air source to verify that it is indeed stuck closed and not working the way it should be?

You can take the wastegate actuator rod end off and try to work the wastegate flapper door by hand to make sure it's not stuck. With the rod off it should move freely back and forth.

yes i have this turbo off my car, and it functions by itself, and i wouldnt know if it was boost creep, if you explain it more i might know. I Bought this turbo from a friend, and he said this is what he experienced. And then is their a solution so that i might be able to put this on sometime this winter/spring. Thanks for the replies.

when i say "operates by itself", i mean that it moves freely, and no operation is hindered. Just for clarification.

Run a Vacuum line Directly from your Wastegate to an Air Compressor with the flapper attached, dial the compressor's PSI to your Intended or target boost, A fully functional wastegate will extend the rod opening the flapper when you apply air pressure
