Im in the search for buying an Eclipse id really like a 98 or 99 but found a decent deal on a 97. Is there any differences between the 97-98-99 Turbo Eclipses (mainly GSX) either on the interior or exterior or mechanical? They all LOOK similar but is there any small differences i dont see?

Well, I don't think so. I know in 97 they changed a few things, but I think they kept them the same till 99.

:dsm:

year of 1999...eclipse came out in black interior colors.....

All three years are the same except in 1999, black leather became an option, and white face gauges were introduced. Nothing else changed.
Keep in mind though with late '96 build dates, there is a problem with the OBDII ecu when reading it for inspection. I have this problem, but am fortunate enough to slip through the cracks.

First off, read EVERYTHING on this site. It has helped me tremendously with my car.

Second, what you are looking for is this:

1997

Additional body changes from the 1995/1996 models.
Minor changes to the ECU code.

1998

Minor changes to the ECU code.
After many years, Mitsubishi finally issues a recall on the AWD DSM transfer case.

1999

The last year of the 2G car, and of the 4G63/AWD DSM platform.
The last year of the Eagle Talon. Chrysler drops the Eagle marque.

The black interior is the only big difference that I've heard of in 1999 though. I found this under make and model info.

couple of minor wiring differences on the 97 vs the 95 and 98 + mothing major.

I believe the white face gauges were part of the 10th anniversary OZ package only.

Just thought I'd let you know, the last year of the Eagle Talon is 1998, not 1999.

misinfo is not funny

I think the 2Ga's had the 6 disc, and the 2Gb's had the 10 disk.

not to add to the confusion, but didn't all 99's come with the oz package?I have seen a number of gs eclipse with the sport wing, leather, gsx rims.all were 99.love the black interior on the 99.I'm gonna try and get one of those next.I will sacrifice the AWD for black leather and a 2g body :p .but i won't sacrifice the turbo.can't make the same mistake twice.

OZ package was '99 GS's only, and all of them. They came with 16 inch OZ wheels that looked like the GSX wheels, but were not.

Thank you black widow! I was wondering when somebody was going to mention that! I have the sliver faced gauges, Also 98-99 have the black ECU.

Was just going to say thrust washers but seen its finally been mentioned! The wheel bearings are slightly different on the 99, late 98-99 charchol canister is in front rather then at the rear. Minor stuff but worth a mention[DOUBLEPOST=1417706039][/DOUBLEPOST]Cold air when heat is on. Pretty sure thats on every 2g[DOUBLEPOST=1417706083][/DOUBLEPOST]
Don't some years have the weird cool air bypass thing on the center vents?

Could someone tell me if there were ANY changes to the engine mounts and/or transmission mounting locations from 95-99?

Thanks,
