Replaced the turn signal switch in my 97 eclipse gs yesterday and now when I try to start it I get nothing. The radio wont turn on, I get all the idiot lights on the dash lit up, a little red light on the lower dash down and to the left of the steering column blinks, and I can hear relays clicking. When I turn the key I get nothing, wont crank or anything
While replacing the switch I had to disconnect the battery to avoid accidentally discharging the airbag. After finishing the install, I accidentally pulled the security system fuse (slot 5) instead of the turn signal fuse (slot 4) while checking to be sure the fuse was good before testing the turn signals.
I've done extensive searching, mostly through google and have joined this forum as a last ditch effort to figure this out. I've tried unlocking doors with the key, and a few other methods I came across that should have fixed it, but no luck.
From that description, can anyone help?

its the stock alarm as far as I can tell, I bought the car 4 days ago, so I still know very little about it

I've never dealt with security systems before, I dont even know where to start looking it

Put key in and turn like you are starting car. Leave key in. Push unlock button. Then lock. Then unlock. Then lock. Now take key out and exit vehicle. Close the door. Then unlock your door, get in and see if it starts. Thats all i got!

Start by looking at the wires coming out of your ignition. Find the odd ones that are most likely tapped in wrong! Then follow those to the alarm box or maybe you will see the wire that came loose. If you don't want the aftermarket alarm just unwire it. But make sure any wires removed that have been tapped into another are fixed properly, or spliced back right! Seems like it's somthing related to your starter and ignition, be it a loose wire or aftermarket alarm.

thanks everyone, I appreciate the help, I'm thinking I should be able to trace the wires from the blinking read light and find the system. I've considered the possibility that I knocked something loose while re-assembling the column (that plastic cover was a bear to get back in place) but that blinking red light of doom just screams "alarm". Thanks Dsmkauai, if tracing wires doesn't pan out, I'll tear the column back apart and see if anything is loose in there.....or just set fire to the car and give up on DSM's

If you have a alarm there might also be a valet switch hidden under the dash or somewhere on the driver side I would also look for that. It could be your way to disarm and arm the system and get you going again!

Trust me bro I know how you feel when I first got my gst it had a wacked out viper alarm. End result was taking it all out, this even had a ignition disabling chip LOL. Was probably real cool when it all worked properly LOL. I ended up getting my stock alarm to work again and ordering a oem key fob!

I had a 96 n/a spyder do this... The factory alarm would just go off for no reason usually at 3 am... We never did figure it out but could stop it with the key In the trunk lock.... drove us nuts

figured it out, it was an aftermarket security system, but the valet button was broke off. I had to turn the key to the on position then jam a en iinto the remnants of the button.
Thank you everyone for your help!
