Looking for more input on a variety of seats.

Personal experience prefered.

My car is a 650 hp street car. Will see drag Strip every once in a while as well as an autocross race here and there. Open to reclinable but leaning more towards fixed back. 6 point cage, no door panels, custom floor mount brackets.

Don't have a set budget as I want to know more on what is necessary and adjust my budget around that.

Question is about safety and comfort.

Mixed reviews about corbeau. No FIA rating and some dislike the safety of them. I like the Fx1 pro. Have somewhere local that sells them I could test out. As well as the a4 and cr1.

Sparco sprint 5 are common seem like a small seat to me and look uncomfortable. Fighter is a good option it seems $640 a seat. Rev, evo, pro2000 are popular and more costly. Corona road as well.

Recaro pole position is the cheapest offered also popular. Yet costly.

Don't know much about omp seats.

Momo start and super cup unknown not as costly as most other high end seats.

Cobra monocco pro or others.

Before doing research I was considering a set of nrg or cipher seats but have come to discover they are as cheap of a seat as the seem from reviews.

Anyone have recommended seats for my application or personal experience with seats to stay away from.

Thanks in advance.

I have Buddy Club seats in my autocross car. Very light - the brackets weigh more than the seats ! They're great seats for autocross, butI would never use them in a car that had any chance of hitting something solid - they're not FIA certified and I have a hard time believing that a 10lb fibreglass seat has the strength to withstand a major impact.

Back in the UK I've used Rigard and Corbeau. Corbeau seats were in pretty much every club level rally or race car out there, never heard a bad word against them - but that was a long time ago. A number of Corbeau seats are FIA certified though ?

I have the Cobra Imola pro seats in my 240Z and I can honestly say that they are great. They are comfortable for long trips as well as they are great on the track, they breathe well so you don't sweat on hot days like you do in the stock seats. Not to mention that they are FIA certified. Will get them for my 2G once its time for the track.

I have the Pole Positions in my 1g and have used them a few times at the track. They're really nice. They sit a little too high for my taste with the sliders and I have been meaning to make some custom aluminum brackets to remedy that. But the seats themselves are great and I'd easily go with them over the cheaper knock-offs after testing a few of them.

Seems most people really enjoy their $700+ seats the most.

How's the wear on the ciphers. The material hold up?

I don't really drive on the street much with it but after 2years they still look new (1,000 miles a yr ha) the Cobras are about 7 yrs old and are pretty faded n worn on the drivers seat

It's just a nice weather car. Not daily. But will take into consideration. Thanks.

That's beneficial as well. Pulling as much weight out as I can. Just need to justify whether to spend $600 on a pair of say corbeaus or $600 each for recaro/sparco etc.

Considered a aluminum or carbon seat yet again unsure of the comfort for a street car. Most luxuries in the car don't exist, heat, ac, oem bushings etc. Want to make sure I enjoy the seat and not just put of with it because I saved X weight.

I have a Bride Zeta 3 type L seat in my driver's seat, and a Recaro SPG in the passenger seat. I'm 6'1" and around 176-180 depending on how much Chipotle I've had that day, and the Bride is a lot better fitting on me than the Recaro, which requires me to scrunch down a little for the shoulders to fit me. Both of them are a tighter fit for my father who is north of 200.

How tall are you/how much do you weigh (or plan to weigh? Ha!) is going to determine more on what seat you should buy, as well as what sanctioning body you wish to be part of.

I've found that Corbeau seats are pretty uncomfortable for me. and the material is lacking compared to Recaro/Bride/Sparco.

I would not put a Kirkey in a street car. People have but they are really drag/short time only use.

I've driven 8+ hours in a fixed back, with no ill results.

I would stay away from Cypher/NRG/other eBay brands that you can get in pairs.

FWIW, mounting a seat on a 2G DSM is a complete PIA. I know Bride makes fixed back seat mounts and mount the seat the lowest. I put a cheap Weapon R seat bracket on my passenger side and it's still high up there.

6 foot. 200 lbs. Mostly street. Will be paired with a 6 pt. Possibly 10 pt down the road. It will see the 1/4 mile a bit and possibly a autocross or 2. I'm making my own brackets/ mounts.

Is there any decent seat in the $400-500 range.

Talking of seat mounts, my first mount was from Bride, and it mounted the seat ridiculously high up, completely impractical. Replaced that with a Corbeau bracket which has worked fine. Driver side uses runners to adjust for different drivers - Corbeau defaults to single locking, and the seat moves around far too much, make sure to order the double locking sliders. Passenger side is just the bracket, no sliders and the seat is very low. The Corbeau brackets aren't as well made as the Bride, but work very well.

I bought a new set of sparco roadster seats bout ten years ago. they are about the most comfortable fixed back seats money can buy. they weigh 15.5 pounds. with sliders and tracks to get them mounted they are 24.5lbs. for a fixed back race seat they are quite compfy and good for street car. but compared to a nice recliner seat they suck.

last year i wanted to save as much seat weight as i possibly could without sacrificing comfort. my stock recaros (evo1) are 41 lbs with tracks. i spent about 60 hours searching for the lightest , comfortable reclining seat I could find. what I ended up with? ebay seats.

these seats are downright amazing for the price. with sliders they are 250 shipped for a pair. the material is very high quality, far better than the sparcos which is very cheap low life material. the seats are a copy of recaro CS seats. they look very sporty to me. they are very comfortable. everyone who has sat in them likes them. best part for me is they weigh 23.5lbs. sliders are 4.5lbs. I have a four door car so i solid mounted the passenger seat at 26lbs mounted. driver is 30 pounds mounted with sliders. cant beat em for the price. saved 24lbs seat weight without sacrificing looks or comfort.

I have a pair or Procar seats by Scat Enterprizes. Pro-Sport fixed back. Bought the mounting brackets. The brackets fit ok. Had to work one mounting hole so rear bolt threads in straight. Too narrow for my 5'-10" size 34 behind. They may be considered cheap e-bay parts, so not relevant. I bought them because they are light and look ok.

My advise, try a seat out before you drop cash on it.

Who sell these on Ebay? Links?

Judging from the responses and what you put in the original post, these might not apply. But I picked up a pair of Summit Racing buckets and seat covers for $100. As with most of these, you'll have to fab up some mounting brackets. Ugly, but they work, and they're lighter than stock.

Before I got my truck, I drove the 150 mile round trip to the races and raced all day in them. They're comfortable enough.
