I was looking at inter coolers for my 98 gsx. The one that I have now, I'm not sure what it is but it came with the car (I'll post a pic later) but I believe it might be an eBay knockoff it's also too big. I have a big 16g just rebuilt, and I was looking at vrsf 2g fmic kit. A lot cheaper than greddy but wanted some opinions and feedback from people who have used it, sometimes I know you get what you pay for.

I don't think there will be much of a difference whatever you chose since you're not running a high hp setup. Go with the vrsf, its not so complicated to build an intercooler anyway :)

My buddy had a fmic on his 2g. All I can say is make sure you find one that doesn't have boost leek problems. He was constantly fighting that.

I've heard good things about the vsrf kit if high hp is not the goal but most of any eBay bar and plate no name 4" Intercooler works great for high hp

t Boost leak problems how? The coupling? And thanks everyone for the replies. High horsepower is not necessarily the goal, I want it to be fast, so far I have big evo3, 950cc injectors, walbro 255, dsm link. But I haven't driven the car since I got it because I've had it all torn apart. If I end up being disappointed guess I'll just go bigger.

^^^ He didn't specify but either that or crappy piping. It was a 6 bolt swapped, and the guy who did it cut some corners

I myself have an ebay fmic which works great, the whole philosophy is to cool air and not to leak, some may be more efficient than others but if its big enough and it doesn't leak it should do the trick. The biggest problem are the connections between the piping, you have to find a way how to deal with those, I used really nice silicone hoses with crazy strong couplers. I have almost the same setup: evo3, pte880, walbro400, dsmlink and thats enough to have a really fast street car. I'd say that build is suitable for 330-350hp at the wheels (I'm using 100 octane tho). If you want a fast daily driver this setup is perfect. You can upgrade to fp68hta later on and get 50-100hp more and even faster spool. If on the other hand you want a drag car, making serious wheel power, you need to sacrifice the low rpm fast spool and get a big ass turbo.. with dsmlink and forged internals only sky is the limit :)

im running a ebay front mount myself, havent had problems with it yet, and its a good price.
