Let's see pics of those DSM v8s

^^^^ This X 1,000,000 so we can photoshop a few appropriately sized turbos to show you what would be the best use of your time LOL. Fab that RWD, install Powerglide, run 7's!! Although Kevin Jewer will still only have half the cylinders and already be doing the same thing repping the 4g63 like a champ!

You correct the statement that the trannies aren't overly reliable by listing the things that need to be done to make them reliable? I am not arguing that they aren't stout in many ways, the gears in particular but how many broken down 3K/Stealths have you seen in your life that need a trans swap to be fixed as opposed to a motor swap cause I've seen a bunch?

I posted info to make the getrag reliable at 800-1000awtq in a drag setting. Good luck with that on a DSM trans. I've been around 3000s quite awhile. Trans are definitely more reliable than the engines! The transmissions don't "break" at any normal amount of upgraded hp/tq. Synchros seam to wear faster than some other trans, but many owners have their clutch adjustment wrong though too.

I stand by my post that the information was incorrect on the reliability of a getrag trans. The getrag trans is a beast compared to the dsm trans.
Pic stolen from donniekak...3rd gear comparison....

Engine comparison?...now that's a debatable topic:D

First of all i believe the 4g63 was fun and reliable. But i was going to do a dohc 4g64 6bolt swap. Because there's no replacement for displacement. Well except a turbo LOL. But a 2g has a 5 speed and with a 6000rpm to 8500rpm safe shift limit if stroked with 2.4l dohc 6 bolt. Also when my friend did his build he was having a hard time with finding a good 100mm 6bolt crank. Also transfer case and transmission kept breaking along with axels. And shifting through gears was supper fast due to shift limitations on 2.4. So now i feel like doing the craziest thing possible and would like some input from the dsm community. How would i go about putting a twin turbo 3000gt vr4 motor in a 95 talon tsi and still keep it awd? And if its possible could i use a 6 speed transmission? Sounds crazy i know but is it possible?

Just get a 7 bolt 2.4. I have no idea why everyone is on the "7 bolts are junk" bandwagon. Put the engine together correctly, and it isnt going to break. Run more clutch than you need and have improper clearances and thrust loads, and you're basically just asking for problems.-

go for it obviously you know the work and money involved and if that's what you want to do then do it. id like to see it done.

I love the guys comment that owns the vr4 setup!!

"I really don't want to let her go but I really want a 4g63 motor"

That should say it all.
Yeah. Sounds like a lot of work and money spent to then want the original engine back! Besides the performance numbers listed in the ad really are not that impressive compared to what can be achieved in a 4G63. I guess maybe there is potential if you had unlimited funds.....

I'm pretty sure that's a 6a12tt in that eclipse like mine. At 61k miles on that motor, he probably realized that parts are impossible to get. Just to get a new timing belt and tensioner for mine the guy who built it had to have his friends dad bring it back from overseas because most places that carry parts for that motor do not import to the U.S. I'm dealing with that issue right now. As far as the 4g63 goes if he kept it, it just drops back in. Not sure what all he had to do to get his in but I asked and was told it would take a night to throw it back in but he had a full front cut when he did the swap on my car. If anybody knows the guy and he has a way of getting parts easy let me know!

i can understand wanting to do something just cause you want to, but sometimes you may want to step back and look at other options. this one i would say is one of those times

Someone has done this the car has been bouncing around on DSM Nation for years. Horrible idea and too exp compared to the 4g63

I heard of guys now using the eclipse gen 3.0 v6 motors and the 3.5l motors I think with the vr4 tt manis in dsms with success.nice thing is that Mitsu has a slew of Dohc v6s that can be used to replace the jdm galant vr4 tt v6 motor and the 3.0l gto vr4 tt motor in a project dsm 2g
