I just wanted to share that This year I'm planning on running in the Hot Rod class. I know even on my best pass to date may not get me in too deep to qualify but what the hell, what better race to travel to, besides the Shoot Out, to hit a serious track and go for bigger better times. Some of my new data I got off my car at the Shoot Out let me know I've only scratched the surface of the power I can make. Robert at FP just about crapped when he found out I accidentally hit 75psi at 1/8th on my warm up pass in Ohio. Those of you who saw the results watched me go sideways all over the track. 4 wheel burnouts at 150 mph FTMFW. When I ran 7.9x in Seattle, I was at 57psi, when my dry sump belt broke on my 2nd rnd elim in Ohio, that Starion was gonna get a 66 psi work out. Anyhow, hope to see some old and new friends, come out and show some support.

P.S. at 75 psi I was still under 1:1 back pressure.

Your coming to the Nov event at MIR ?

Is hot rod the only class your car fits in? Even so the event is a blast, I've been going every year for the past couple years. Bring a winter jacket. :)
Unfortunately, Jeff doesn't meet the rules for Street Fighter. He uses methanol, doesn't have the front interior, no headlights, etc. Hot Rod allows Jeff to run as-is, but as he said, it'll be tough to be competitive against the RWDs running 7.00-7.30. Jeff's best pass at 7.9x would have qualified him #13 out of the 32 car field at last year's event. That's well into the field and we all know how racing can go so I say RUN IT! Jeff usually has killer .0xx reaction times and if you look at last year's results, most of the reaction times from everyone were garbage. Last year's Hot Rod qualifying numbers ranged from 7.24 to 23.45 and the quickest pass of eliminations was Andy Manson's X275 Mustang that went 7.09. Devin Schultz qualified #17 last year with an 8.41@175.

Glad to hear you are coming out Jeff! I look forward to seeing you guys again this year! Word of caution: I can't recall what your engine catch pan looks like but be absolutely 100% sure that the outer edges are at least 2" tall and the seams and corners are welded, not riveted. Also, be sure you have the gray oil absorbing pads in the pan as well. This goes for any other import car you guys bring out, including the GT-Rs. MIR is insanely hardcore about the engine catch pan rule, especially with imports, and they will tell you you can't run if it isn't setup properly! Read the rules carefully! :) Oh, and like was said above, dress very warmly and be prepared to run your car in the coldest temperatures it has ever run in! :hellyeah:

One last word of advice, if you guys are going to bring out the silver GT-R, you will only be able to run in the top class of Outlaw vs Extreme with it setup as-is. Currently, no other class allows larger than 67.9mm twins on an import. Be sure to check the rules for each class. If you guys slapped a set of 67s on there with a catch pan and weighed 3700lb (aluminum block deducts 100lb from the 3800lb requirement), you could run against SpeedFactory in Street Fighter. Or 67s, catch pan, and 2300lb (aluminum block deducts 100lb from the 2400lb requirement) could run Hot Rod. Both of those classes allow nitrous as well. Or, if you really wanted to, you could e-mail Jason Miller at MIR and ask him to allow 72mm twins in Hot Rod. He might just do it if you tell him it's the world's quickest GT-R as-is right now, its current setup and times, etc. Jason is always about trying to keep things competitive but there's never been a crazy fast GT-R at this event before so Jason may not have the rules right and will admit it if you convince him! Try it!

Nice! This is a badass race, I can't wait for it. I go to this event every year to spectate. Jason did tweak the rules for Hot Rod so I can run (nitrous on RWD 4 cyl wasn't allowed), but I'm not sure I want to bring the car yet.

I've been to the race a few times myself, just never with a car, Im for sure looking forward to it, I do know my standings with the competition, TOTALLY NOT why I'm going, I have a couple goals to finish off this season and I know this track can make it happen, and what the hell, who dont love top fuel 4wd burnouts in front of 1000's of people.

Great I can hardly wait to see you and the wife again.

We had a pretty amazing time, I literally beat the crap out of my car there. I cut the most 1.2x 60fts in my career.

1.38 warmup get a feel for the track 8.38@170 at 48 psi
1.223 57 psi 8.13@171
1.220 38 psi spray 100 in 2nd gear 8.07@173
1.225 60 psi spray 2nd 8.11@174
1.221 60 psi spray 2nd 8.1@173

As you can see the more power I threw at her the slower she went, converter is pretty much wore out and too loose for this power level. Problem will be fixed and as of now my season is finished, I do however have full plans for hitting the IFO Bakersfield event in February, Overdriven final drive worked awesome and Im super pumped to actually see how far into the 180 mph area it will go with the new converter. Car finished running and ready to race no carnage.

If you guys remember Harold, he used to have a pretty nice white 2g. Now he wins import vs domestics with his 03 cobra (this is the finals from Nov 10 2014 @ MIR)

Nice work Jeff and English Racing!!!

Man five low 8 second passes and still in one piece, that's impressive!!!

Where do these events usually take place? Is there a website for the schedule?

It's one event, held at MIR in Maryland in early November. http://www.importvsdomestic.com/

I ended up bringing my car. First pass the motor was too cold and it slowed way down, ran in the low 8s somewhere. 8.2 maybe. Second pass I warmed it up better, but the tires didn't stick and did some drifting. Sunday for eliminations I knew I wasn't going to be able to get off on that tree quick enough so I decided that if it came down to that, I was going for a new best ET instead. Unfortunately I had some settings wrong, so it only ran a 7.92. 1.17 60 foot though, which is a new best on this rear gear, and close to my over all best. I ended up staying for the rental on Tuesday. Nothing good there, the head gasket let go before I could get anything done. 1.20 sixty foot, 5.02 at 140 in the 8th. Nothing special. I had a great time though hanging out with Boostin, TPG, STM, Adam St John, and the English racing guys. It was like a mini shootout. We definitely need to do that again next year!

This year domestics won all but 1 class. I think it was last year that imports won most of them. Harold kicked ass BTW, very well done. Also, the guy that beat Jeff has run the local x275 series that I run at my home track. He's also a serious racer, and went on to win the class.

7.9 definitely isn't slow, but it's hard to not get used to it and want more. :D To give an idea how serious this event is, I was the 21st qualifier in this class. I think I counted 4, maybe 5 cars in the 7.1-7.2 range this year. We also saw the first x275 legal 6 second pass at MIR during this race. Quite a few records were set this year, as always.
