just get it rebuilt check out the vendors below, they can answer all of your questions .

Car has 177k miles. Lots of rust due to being up north, then brought to MS. Not arguing, just giving a little more info. Looks like spark plugs haven't been replaced, jumped time, missing on 2nd cylinder, and water in the oil.

Miller imports , if u want a good used motor . Their great to deal with. If u got the coin to buy a crate motor, check out the vendor reviews on here. Lots of Great vendors around to deal with ! Word of advice DO NOT GO WITH DSM GRAVEYARD! Some people STILL TO THIS DAY think about using them . :0 goodluck

recomend 6 bolt swap on a 2g and all used motors are beat on its a dsm rebuild if you can and build your shortblock Jacksonauto is going to have a sale soon

I found a (supposedly) new engine at powertrain. Has anyone heard of them, had any experiences?

Update. Got screwed by NAPA. Does anyone know where I can get a remanufactured engine? I found several used, but prefer a remanufactured one.

Reman one i dont know i would just get stock parts for a stock rebuild if thats your goal.

I am gonna rebuild, but I need it back on the road, ASAP. It's my only car. Wanted to get another engine in it, so I can rebuild the old.

Ok. I wound up ordering a remanned engine from Barnette's Remanufactured Engines. I paid in full on Oct 31. They said it would take about 2 weeks. I still don't have an engine, but I do get a lot of excuses.

Well youll have to wait and see they should stand by their name let us know how it goes. Getting parts easy find a builder depends on where you look, even if were to do it yourself two weeks tops, many people who build I know take about a week less than two, these are those who work on the side, nice I have anything at disposal if I choose to have something done.

The engine is costing me $2700. It would have been less, but I'm keeping my other engine for a rebuild. When I get it, I'll start a build thread.
It just seems odd that a business that solely remans engines would take a month.

After waiting just over a month, I finally get the engine. Camshaft on the intake is wrong. Really not happy with Barnette's, at this point.

I know this would be some what risky sounding. But have you thought about going through a private seller who deals with DSM?

Got the engine from Barnette's on the 5th. The shop started work on it on the 8th, only to find that Barnette's had the wrong cam shaft on the intake and had installed the automatic pilot bushing. I told them when I ordered it that it was manual. They had to ship the right cam shaft, so, now I'm just HOPING that it'll be done by Christmas. Don't order from Barnette's.

Man that sucks. I have a freshly rebuilt 7 bolt on an engine stand in my garage just sitting there. Eagle crank, bored 20 over with weisco pistons and eagle rods. All arp nuts and bolts, balance shaft delete, etc. Was going to go into a 98 gst I have also sitting in garage but I've lost interest....anyone else need a motor?

Right, sorry too hear that man im in the middle of a body swap, valve job and probably a handful of other things ive yet too find along my way. thanks for the tip about Barnette's been looking at several different places too start ordering from. the venders here have been looking good so far. But I can also see from your perspective being that's your DD. is Barnette's going too refund your cash or give you the correct product?
