I'm planning on getting either a 2jz motor or a motor from a evo. I own a 97 Eclipse GSX. Which motor would be a better project for building a motor that has about 600hp? Or do you recommend a different motor?

Why would you get a 2jz or evo motor when your 4g63 engine is capable of putting a lot more than 600 horses to the wheels? I will tell you a reason why not to get any of those engines - they are not positioned as your engine is (evo is mirrored and 2jz is vertical). The only engine that would fit easily is evo 1-3 engine but you already have the same thing in your car. There are few steps in achieving your goal:
1. rebuild your engine with forged performance internals
2. buy a decent turbo such as FP black or similar
3. supply enough fuel with big pump and injectors
4. get a DSMlink or a standalone management system so you can tune your car
5. check if everything on the car can handle the power your engine is producing (gearbox for example)
6. turn up the boost :)

Swapping in a 2jz would be a very difficult swap as it would need different mounts and a lot of custom work, and is a swap that no one has done before,

As for the evo swap there really isn't any benefit to swapping in an evo engine as it is essentially the same engine to our 4g63s, so just building up your engine would be the best bet with forged internals etc. but if you want to do an engine swap then you could do a 6 bolt swap as it's pretty easy and it's also considered to be stronger than the 7 bolt dsm engine

6 bolt is not stronger than a 7 bolt...its just a bit more user friendly. But if you build your 7bolt the proper way you won't have any problems. My advice is to buy already built engine that hasn't been assembled yet. Many people end up giving up on their projects and selling new stuff at half price. I think I know a perfect engine for you, I'll paste the info on it and give you a facebook link of the guy. (I bought some stuff from him, hes legit).
