I skimmed through the forum with very little luck. I may just be missing it and if this question is answered in another forum, I am sorry. I managed to get a Angry orchard beer tap handle from my previous employer which burned down. The handle means a lot to me for reasoning I don't feel like boring you guys with. I however would like to make it into a shift knob. However, I do not know what is the thread size for the shift. I also am not certain if their is some adapter I could buy. I found a link for just generally make a beer tap into a shifter. I would rather hear from somebody who has done it for these car specifically. Any help on this would be gratefully appreciated.

Its plastic so I would use the sleeve idea. I gratefully appreciate the help. I never had to make a shift knob before and really had no clue on what to even do. I will post a picture of it finished. I will do it sometime this weekend.

Friend did the exact same thing with a Sam Adams tap. Thing is huge and totally obnoxious but hilarious every time I get in his car ha. He tired to tap the plastic and that worked for a while then it stripped. His final fix was to drill out the bottom about 3/4"x 1"deep. Put in a metal plug tapped for M10x1.25 then secured it with epoxy. Thing has been in the car for like 3 years daily driven (I don't see how he can stand it) without a problem.

If it were me, since this is as hillbilly as it gets. I would fill the ENTIRE tap handle with liquid jb weld, give it 72 hours to cure and then drill and tap your own threads. The jb weld is strong enough. Being in the bar industry I know the threads are close to fitting as is. It may just be a difference of metric vs standard on why it won't fit.

I can take my tap kit in to work tomorrow and get you an exact "standard tap" pitch.

I have wanted to do this same thing, but all our extra handles are like 12" long

I would also look into the throw that this thing will make. Third gear gets real close to that radio with the stock shifter.

I thank you al for advice. Solution for right now.I really want to make certain I do this right the first time. I am holding off the idea right now. i just got some tall bubble shifter right now for it. I want to get another beer tap too practice on first. This beer tap has a lot of meaning to me.

This thread totally reminded me of my friend not only doing the beer tap for a shift knob, but he also did it for the windshield wiper blades and a small version on the turn signals. It was hilarious, because every time he hit a massive bump, the wipers would go off to full speed. Good luck with your knob.
