Where do I even start. I bought a MAFT kit from a member on the forum for about 80 bucks for the translator and maf + couplers. The install for the maf portion went amazingly smooth and fit well, everything is great. But the more I'm thinking about it the more I begin to question hardwiring this MAFT into my stock harness. I don't want to cut the stock plug off, and this came off a 2g but the wires were just chopped so I basically have no choice but hard wiring. He said it's MAFT version 1.7, and that it's compatible with both 1g and 2g and 3000gt. So what info I need is if that's correct, and if anyone can identify positively which version I have. The reason I ask is because the label has been worn off the lid of the translator. I really don't want to chop the plug off my wiring harness and have this turn into some nightmarish project because it's trying to run my car as a 2g or something.'

And in my defense, there are dozens of threads on the MAF-T, and very few of them have any useful posts in them at all.

-Edit. In the bottom right hand corner of my maft on the circuit board it says " REV 1.7".

The problem with fullthrottletech is it's completely useless if you don't know your version number. It has a choice of version 2.0, and also version 2.0. The range is very limited in that there isn't one. It shows how to wire version 2.0 to a 1g or a 2g, which isn't helpful if you're not sure what version you have.

I also looked at that thread you posted and can't seem to find any relevant info. I don't want to just 'go for it' and chop my plug only to find out that this isn't going to work and now I can't drive my car because I can no longer use the stock MAF. :ohdamn::toobad:

Switch back to the 1g mas setup, until you know the version you have are you having issues with the version now. Wire it for a 1g since you have a 1g if im correct the 1g and the 2g set up is different only with the connector for the stock mas I could be wrong im not 100 percent sure. many cant tell the version they have ive seen this asked before. Seems like you might find the version for your car or don't install it.

So here's my solution. After reading for hours and digging at threads nearly a decade old I've come to the conclusion that running the MAFT "zeroed" isn't possible. On fullthrottletech they say that even putting the MAFT to emulate the 1g MAS it will not be right and it will require tuning. They also said that it is especially true when going blow through.

That being said I have messaged a few members and am going to buy a wideband, and then I will install that and then the MAF Translator and tune accordingly.

So after a bunch of nightmares involving my car, it's finally on the road once again. I'm just trying for the life of me to get this MAFT tuned in. I've tried to use the maf tuning guide from fullthrottletech.com but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm trying to tune solely from the wideband. The thing that is really screwing with me is how badly the tune is 'wandering' about. Sometimes when I come to a stop the car idles and bounces around the 14.1 to 14.9 area which is great. Then sometimes all of the sudden my idle becomes 11.0:1 ARF which is way too rich for idle. But then if I cruise around a bit it will idle around the 14 area again and eventually drop to 11. I'm just really lost. Every time I think that I got it right, 5 minutes later it's different again.

Anyone have any idea? I am getting desperate. I need to have this tuned because I have to drive 400 miles in this car coming up on july 2nd!

I'm posting a video of exactly what I mean on youtube right now. I will embed it here, but processing might take a few minutes.

So after reading the tuning guide about 50 times, I'm guessing that the maft is completely impossible to tune. If I unplug the battery and let the ECU reset and then set the base to 2 and richen the idle, the car barely runs. It runs pretty good on base = 0, and dipswitch 2 set 'on'. I can get the car to run, but the idle is pegged completely lean on my UEGO. So here is what i'm using currently:
AUX-0
Base-0
Idle - 5
Mid-1
WOT-1

Even with these settings, my idle is falling into mid 15's, sometimes into low 16s.
Can anyone help? I really need to get this thing stabilized.
