Not that its relevant to anybody But I've had my car since late 2011. This whole time I was under the impression (from previous owner) that my head had Ferrera titanium springs and retainers and Ferrera valves and BC 272 cams. But taking the head off I realized that I do in fact have Ferrera spring and valves but I just found out that I have Crower retainers and HKS 272s not BC cams. Not sure if its a good thing or bad.

Titanium springs don't exist.

Hks cams are not junk, and are probably better than BC, though everyone has different opinions.

Well then, maybe just the retainers are titanium

HKS cams are better imo, no reports of them breaking like the BCs.
I've got them in my car and love them.

Also I believe the HKS cams are slightly more aggressive.

Nice. Apparently the previous owner never really got into the car. Maybe he bought it, couldn't fix it so sold it

There are many threads comparing these cams with the pros and cons

So apparently the cams have HKS stamped on both. The exhaust says HKS and it looks like theres a 254 A1. The intake is stamped HKS and has 272 A1?

Are you sure it's not 264?
264/272 is a common hks setup that's not so aggressive.

Taking a second look it is actually 264 and its the intake cam. So the exhaust is the 272. But what is A1? Also is it a decent combo for a street hx35?

Anybody know what the A1 could be?

I'm pretty sure that the A1 isn't of any significance. A google search didn't turn up anything about those serial numbers as anything at all. It's most likely just a part number that HKS used to identify the cam for a specific application. Like A1 for an eclipse, and AM01 for the Evo 8.. etc.
