Like its been said before it depends on the shop. My car and moms car were both painted same day 2+ years ago. They both look good to this day.

Its just like everyone saying eBay intercoolers suck while the difference between them and the more expensive ones is around 10hp. To 99% of the people its not necessary

10hp? that's a sticker of the JDM variety.

oh wait, I'm on a DSM forum, not a Honda one.. oops. ROFL

Does maaco do jdm paintjobs? I would love to see a nice jdm yellow. Then add a roofrack. That would. Make this mitsu look sick. Then get hella flush

jdm yellow? really? just tell them what color you want and they can make almost any shade by mixing colors.

they should sell jdm coolant too. and jdm light bulbs. maybe even jdm air fresheners.

Id like to see photos of a good maaco job vs a bad one, cause all I've seen in person is gold from them.

Sorry etay, here is the car as of last summer.... I garaged it and put it up for sale in the middle of winter, and someone traded me an s14 for it... days later the guy calls me and says he messed up the transmission, it went up for sale again super cheap, weeks later it shows up in Columbus fixed so now its a mystery as to its whereabouts...

The problem with Maaco isn't so much the workers, it's that for the cheap prices people want to pay they can only use a 1 stage paint, which includes clear and base. That paint will always chip and flake after awhile.

You can go with their top notch service which is a proper 2 stage paint job, but they hardly ever mask the car off or block it right, etc. Do all your prep work and mask the car off yourself and then bring it to them for their top notch service and you will get a pretty decent paint job that will last for a good long time.

I agree with the second part of this... pretty much the only way to get a decent Maaco job is if you prep it yourself and take it to them after. Even then, I still wouldn't be surprised if you're missing hardware considering they half ass the whole process.

However, the first part of this post couldn't be anymore incorrect. A good single stage paid job will last just as long as a base/clear job. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a good single stage paint. I guarantee the paint they use at maaco is the same brand, single stage or base/clear, both are probably cheap.

The paint, just the base and clearcoat for my gsx, are going to cost be 8-900 dollars. That's just for the color and clear. I'll be spending 1500 bucks or more on a paintjob that I''ll be spraying myself and doing all of the body work.

Cheap work ain't good and good work ain't cheap.

Cheers

I didn't realize how old this thread was before I posted... sorry guys. I hate when old threads get bumped.

Like the old phrase goes you get what you pay for.It looks good to those who dont know about paint right now but in a year or two you'll wonder why you didnt wait and get it real paint job. I'm lucky that my paint is original and the lady i got it from 8yrs ago kept great care of it. If my paint is cracked chipped or anything ill spend the extra money and get it done right..but to each their own.

My talon. Already 2 years with a maaco paint job

^^^^ Nice...

*mouth clicking shaking head*
It depends on who's working that day man, I tell people who thinks macco is bad.
Buddies car, 5 and a half years. No peel, chips, lazy guy who dont wash car. When he does. Looks as good as it was 5 years ago. Just have to be cool with who's gonna work on the car. We encounter a guy who was into imports so he gave it more attention to detail. Same thing for my civic. Painted 6 years ago.

And this thread might lay dormant for a few more MONTHS LOL

They do a pretty good job there because they had a classic ferrari getting a paint job for little stuff.

My buddy has had 2 cars painted by them and both of them turn out really good. I'm going to take the Spyder there when I get it done

Two of my friends had there dsms painted by a local one here in mn, on the first sign of ice of the bumper paint came off with it, and the other one they forgot to clear the spoiler and painted his side mount all white.

Hope all works out well for you! Looks good
