Hello, I have a 97 Eagle Talon and it spun a rod bearing 3 weeks ago and i was going to part the car out but I got a great deal on a 6 bolt short block. I thought I was just going to part the car out so I didn't label anything and I need some help with where stuff goes. I will Have questions over time and so i will come back and update. Right now I know that i need theses things to get a 7bolt head to work on a 6bolt.
Head Machined to fit block
6 bolt clutch/flywheel
6 bolt oil pan
What else?

Thanks for your help!

There are tons of threads, and even a merged thread, on clutch selection with advice from just about everyone. If youre going to do a rebuild, I suggest getting a manual so you have something to go by for the tear down and rebuild. In your situation, the search function will be your most valuable tool for both knowledge and how to.

I use ACT 2900 and i havent had any issues,
how does your clutch feel day to day?
I'm looking more into the http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=25403
and the as a fly wheel. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=16363&cat=1374&page=1

I have read some good reviews on both of them. If anyone has also heard good or bad things about them let me know! also are these the right bearings to go for when wanting to hold more power? i don't want to throw another bearing. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=23221\

Thanks!

I have never been past the 2900 with this vehicle and wouldnt know how difficult it would be goin from stop and go all day. Is this car goin to be your DD?

I would be scared with goin with something for "race" only clutch. Hows the build going btw? Did you start a journal?
I have a journal I just haven't updated it. The motor is out off the car and torn down. Cylinder 4 rod bearing is junk and the crank got hit too. Right now I have the 6 bolt block with new crank that was polished and have a set of 6 bolt rods and pistons that I'm going to get polished. Just ordered the clutch and acl bearings. I'm putting a 7 bolt head onto 6 bolt block and getting it taped to fit. That's where I'm at right now getting all the parts I need so I can give it to the machine shop so they can assemble it.

Not sure if you've done any extensive builds before but just something to keep in mind I wish I would've done is saved ally paperwork from the machine shop. I know it's kind of irrelevant but just figued I'd throw that out there.

Yea this is my first build and I do plan on saving the paper work. Thanks for the help full reminder man!

How are your pistons from the 7 bolt? If you can use them have them machined to fit on the 6-bolt rods, or get a new set of .20 over npr 2g pistons. The 7.8:1 compression of the 6-bolt is just a little too low for dd imho. I'm building my 6-bolt for 400 ish hp dd and that's what I'm going with. New rings and bearings and have everything balanced.

How much are npr 2g pistons? and do you know how much it is to get them machined to fit a 7 bolt rod?
My 7 bolt pistons look a little brown and dirty same with the 6 bolt ones i got, but there is no damage on them it seems just dirty. Also I'm still kind of a newbie at this so why .20 over on pistons? just to fit 6 bolt rods? and if i got .20 do the cylinders have to be bored?

Please keep me updated on your build it looks like were doing the same thing and have equal goals!

Do I need a 6 bolt engine girdle? do they have to be there? i was thinking they do but i guess they don't is that true? and why do people run motors without them?

Would this be a good stock piston and piston ring to get?

Also if i were to get the motor bored over and use the pistons above is that the only thing i have to change if the motor was to be bored? or would i have to get new rods and a crankshaft?
