1G Talon 6 BOLT N/A.... OK now I've come to find that the answer is always DSM LINK V3, every time I do research on this. I run a dirt track N/A dsm and can not dump a bunch of money into my Saturday night car. I have a non epromp ecu so I understand that I need to get it socketed first. Im looking for a basic tune and not something that I nit pick with my computer. I currently only have hotter burning spark plugs, and 275cc injectors. http://frozenapps.com/mitsuchips.php - Is something that I've come across and want to know if it works at all (I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DSM LINK V3 AS I CAN NOT DROP 500 ON THE SOFTWARE). Will this work and are there others that can work in this manner.

Hello, I can tell you that the FrozenApps chips do work. The owner/ programmer is Ryan. He just burnt a eprom chip for my ECU.. I had him do the mods to run 780cc injectors, 2g mass air meter (609), raise the rev limit to 7800, remove fuel cut, boost gauge to knock sensor, double mass air logging, etc.. He is did a custom apps program from the Android market for data logging on the 1g cars and made a custom blue tooth board that connects to the obd port to transmit the data to your smartphone or tablet. Talented guy, but just be aware it may take a few weeks to get the chip, as they are done per order and He's a college student.

Also, you will have to have an ECU that has an eprom, have it removed and a socket installed. Ryan also does this work.

Thanks for your input!!!! V3 ECU LINKS are so damn pricey I really can not afford it! Im currently looking into stroking my car and this will be extremely helpful!

I have a n/t eprom somewhere I'd let go for cheap. Shoot me a pm.

Another option to link is going with an ostrich chip emulator. You will still need the socketed ecu. You change your tune on the fly with tuner pro. Tuner pro is free to use or you can donate the 40.00. The nt bin should be pretty easy to find. Try dsmecu.com for that.

An ECM link might be in the future at some point, but for just street driving, and weekend warriors, the ECU chips work great. You're not spending a lot out of pocket to pick up some good HP. If you tell him what turbo you're running, intercooler, cams, etc , He will build fuel and timing maps that will give you a good base tune. If you have a SAFC then you can tweek it. I find that to more user friendly than a stand alone engine management system. Secondly, you need to have good knowledge of tuning with the ECMLINK, or you can toast your motor if you put the wrong values in.

"The only other option are the 1989 Colt/Mirage turbo (4G61T), or the Galant VR4. Neither of which are easy to find.

90-94 Talon/Eclipse turbo...that's pretty much it. I wouldn't worry about the ecmlink non-eprom conversion. If they sell it, then it's going to last ."

It looks like turbo cars were the only ones that had EPROMS, but all of these threads are for turbo ECUs.

Nope. There were non-turbo EPROM ECUs. They are out there.

If HE doesnt find it do any stock ecu's have this or do i have to get it done on the n/t?

It is stock. Some of the n/t ECU's came EPROM, meaning you can get it socketed and run a chip. Otherwise You'd have to pay more to get an EPROM conversion. I think ecmlink charges like $135 for that? vs ~$25 for just buying one and another ~$50 to have it socketed.

With a n/t is this even worth doing?

Hello newb here I would like to add that I have sent my ecu to this guy to have it socketed and Chipped that arrived to him June 6th 2014 and have had the worst time trying to get a hold of him (Ryan Detwiler aka memphetic aka frozenapps) I've actually talk to him twice and each time a excuse don't think I'm going to get it back if so I'm afraid to even use it not a man of his word
Still waiting. ........
