Hey I was wondering if you guys could give me some insight on my planned build.
My 99 GSX was bone stock when I bought it with ~110k on the odometer. Since the purchase I have done just about all of the maintenance on the site's Maintenance Guide save for an oil leak and some rattles here and there that should be cleared up soon. Cosmetically there's some work as well, but that's why it's a build right?

My plan is to make this car the perfect Daily Driver. Reliable, Fun, and Well Rounded.
320WHP/340WTQ on 93 Pump Gas

I'm open to any and all input to help me reach my goals safely and effectively. Again, this car will be daily driver and I am counting on it to get me from A to B while keeping the prices of mods down but keeping quality of parts respectable.

Relevant Future Mods
b16g/E316g
Thermal Exhaust
Ebay Intake Pipe & K&N Filter
Punishment Racing FMIC
Evo 8/9 Fuel Pump
880-1050cc injectors
Hallman MBC
1G BOV
Innovate G2 Wideband
Autometer Ultra-Lite Boost Gauge
UndecidedBrand Oil Pressure Gauge
Tactrix Openport 2.0 (Assuming Learning Curve isn't too high)

Misc. Future Mods

Full Stereo and Some Sound Deadening
Brass Shifter Cable and Aluminum Shifter Base Bushings (Done)
B&M Short Shifter
Energy Suspension or Prothane Chassis Bushings (haven't decided on which stiffness I want)
Undecided Suspension Setup (Looking for an affordable drop (~1.5") that can handle reasonably well in spirited driving and the occasional autocross session)
Compworks Fender Braces
Gates Racing Belts (Done)
BSEK (Done)

Another fmic option is the vrsf kit. I looked at the PR kit when is was looking at intercoolers butr after reading around the vrsf wasd worth a little more money to me. Little to no fab work needed. Love the core.

some guy said he made 600 whp with the vrsf and it still held strong. For that price its definitely worth it with that 3.5" core.

I definitely gave it a look, and its not ruled out, but I wanted to keep my fogs without a lot of hassle and have a relatively easy install. I don't plan to ever see over 450whp on this car.

Meth injection. Cheap and effective. You can run very high boost with that little evo, netting you the numbers you are looking for(and higher)

I'm going to look into Meth, on how sustainable/practical it is on a DD. Thanks

will he need something other than a 1g bov to max out the 16g?

We have similar goals, and it's a very common goal among dsmers. Hope everything works out for you

Thanks I will take a look at those.
I think a modded/crushed 1g bov will be up to the job based on my reading.

The Punishment kit will work just fine for your goals. I ran one way past your goals and even way past the manufacturers recommendations and never had an issue.

But I do agree that alternative fuels will probably be needed. If anything, it'll definitely make things easier. Pump gas is not small turbo friendly.

I'm not completely focused on power numbers but more the area under the curve for daily driving, but where would I be with a e316g on the supporting mods I listed on 93 pump, a good tune, and stock cams. 300 even? I just want 300+whp with more peak torque than hp on a relatively conservative build that can be reliably maintained.

Maybe one of you can guide me in the right direction. I'm going to start browsing more of the small turbo DD builds.

"Some guy" might also have a tubular exhaust manifold, smim, well degreed cams, and a killer tune, and might have gained more power from a real core.

China cores are what you pay for.
lets not forget the equalizer.....E85. I agree 100% with your thoughts. Personally I have always had great luck with Garret cores.

E3 16g is for you then. E3 16g can make more than enough power for your modest goals, cheap and reliable. The TD05H turbine in the 16g will provide nice torque numbers, and that big torque hit for street driving. It's why so many people love that 68HTA (it's a 16g with an HTA wheel on it). Its a great street turbo. Anyways on your setup...

Things I would do different...

-4" FP intake
-e3 16g
-FP race cast manifold
-ECM link (recommend ecu controlled solenoid for a high boost taper and big torque numbers)
-GSC S1 cams
-walbro 190 fuel pump
-3.5"-4" Garret Bar and plate intercooler (precision, ETS, JMF etc.)

Should get you there no problem on 93. My thoughts.

I'm shooting for around the same power goals with my car, heres my list

Evo 3 16, downfiring 20g style comperssor cover, fully ported turbine housing
FP Exhaust Manifold
Tial 38mm off the o2 housing
3" exhaust

FP Intake
PR FMIC
Evo 3 Intake Manifold
1g throttle body
Tial 50mm BOV

FP2 Cams
BC Springs & Retainers
3g Revised Lifters
AEM Cam Gears(I will be degreeing cams)

Walbro 255
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
FIC 850cc

DSMLINK v3 Speed Density
AEM Wideband, Boost & Oil pressure gauges
93 Pump Gas

Engine also has new headgasket, ARP headstuds, all new timing components, southbend clutch and shep race trans and a bunch of other little things.

I've done alot of research and have been slowly collecting parts. Ive researched cams for hours and everyone says I should be happy with the fp2's.

FP2s, BC272, DKS/HKS 272s, Crower 272s etc... they'll all be just fine for you. Yes, even the BC cams LOL. I would go DKS 272. Price is good and ive heard nothing bad about those guys

I'm on Delta 264's, 94, meth, VRSF intercooler, Evo 16g on my 1g. Spikes to 30psi, tapes to 25psi by redline but I make that up with timing (about 23 degrees at redline) and even after removing 350lbs from the dsmlink hp estimator(no balance shafts or a/c), it estimates around 430-450awhp with one passenger.

93 pump + meth? Your numbers seem high for pump. Interesting to see how it runs on a dyno.

It's my daily driver so I haven't bothered taking it to a dyno, probably not going to take it to a dyno till I get another holset. AWD dyno's are rare (only two that I've heard of) in Toronto.

I use link as a "rough" estimate. So take it for what you will.

And it's 94 octane with 75/25 meth and water.

What airflow is DSMLink reporting?

and Yeah I'm pretty familiar with your car. Yours inspired me to paint my rims and I'm following a similar path. I have the 14b for now and will expand when my budget permits.

First thing, get the e3 granted its not much better but it's usually cheaper, mine was brand new. Second I would get a fp race exhaust manifold and either a e3 or a tubular down pipe/o2 housing. One with an external waste gate will make holding accurate boost pressure easier.

A rough hp estimate is around 1lb per min= 10hp. I have seen people reporting as much as 41lbs on a maxed out e3. Obviously the tune, fuel, supporting mods will make a difference.

Airflow is at 35lb/min

no disrespect, but your ecmlink HP estimate is way off. It's not even a "rough" estimate. Your airflow dictates less than 350 WHP.
