I had to send my 99 GSX project to the crusher after discovering a ton of rot in structural areas.
You can read more about that car here --->http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dsm-build-journals/475412-mystery-machine-1999-eclipse-gsx.html
So I pulled the motor, trans, interior, AWD components and everything else from the car then got rid of it.
Next I needed to get a replacement shell.
I traveled 450 miles south to Maryland to make sure I was getting a rust free shell this time around and brought it back home to Massachusetts.
In the meantime I started buying some parts:
New timing belt
Tensioner
MLS HG
All new gaskets
ARP L19s
HKS 272s
Mighty Max FF OFH
Holset HX-40
Tial 44mm wg
Tial Q bov
Victory FMIC
DSMlink v2.5 with Eprom
Custom tubular manifold
JMF Race SMIM
Fuel Lab Filter
Stainless braided fuel feed back to tank
Fuel Lab AFPR with gauge
Mishimoto Aluminum radiator
Avid motor mounts
Okay let's get to work.
Here's the 6 bolt being pulled from the old shell...
Head back from the machine shop. Decked and cleaned. Painted the block. Time to start reassembly with all the new engine parts.
Painted the engine bay also..
Most of the motor is back together..
Next I'll be assembling the rest of the motor, cleaning, painting, and installing the trans, then dropping the motor in.
I also need to start on the AWD conversion (I took everything needed from the old car), then will be wire wheeling and painting the entire underneath of the car with SEM Rust shield paint.
In between all of that I'll be painting the interior side of the floor pan and then install my new black carpet and all of the black interior pieces including the dash that I took out of the GSX before I junked it.
Plenty of work to come.
